Both Le Blanc, and the cottage are just on the edge of the Brenne national park in the 4th warmest region of France, described by many as the "last undiscovered" area of the country.
Apart from being "warm": generally maintaining summer temperatures of around 4 or 5 degrees higher than the UK, and an "undiscovered" area, our little niche of France has ... well, nothing !.
Just peace, quiet, open country side, super quiet and brilliant quality roads and a connection with nature.
The cottage itself offers a spacious loft bedroom with shower, sofabed for "occasional" or "friendly" guests, a god size living / dining area, well equipped kitchen and even air conditioning & latest technology heat pump heating for comfort all year round.
A gated entrance & not "overlooked" front & rear gardens ensure privacy, although the Owners house does share the same plot.
The owners: Annie & Danny only visit "once in a while" so it's unlikely you'll see them, but if you do, they will respect your privacy or give you help and support if you need and of course a warm welcome.
They are a young (ish !) couple with the most charming, gracious and well behaved children you could ever with to meet. Who, as a matter of course are learning English at school. Ask them to translate though and they'll suddenly decide they urgently need to go to the loo !
I know how they feel ... I find "languages" a bit painful too.
On the ground floor there is an open plan living / dining area and kitchen separated by a half height wall. A spiral staircase takes you up to the first floor, which is in the roof space, and has an open plan bedroom with vanity sink, modern multi jet (pummeling & invigorating !) shower and toilet cubical.
Although recently refurbished, the cottage retains many character features like the original floor tiles downstairs, exposed oak beams and a working log fire place.
While you might well be escaping a former city life ... wi-fi and TV can keep you in touch with the "real" world if needed. On the other hand, you could simply immerse in the tranquility of the area, good and known for: Cycling (relatively flat terrain), Bird watching (ad hoc or by visiting one of the areas nature reserves), Walking, fishing and so on, while a wealth of nearby Chateaux & Abbeys offering a brilliant cultural and historic fix.
Further afield there are places like Poitiers & Tours. Both towns worth a visit in their own right, and at 40 miles (64k) & 75 miles (120k) away respectively, easily doable on a "long day trip" basis.
Even further, for the marginally more intrepid, there is La Rochelle (130 miles / 200k). A bit more of a serious trip, but worth it. It's a lovely coastal city, with harbour, interesting shops down old and quaint lanes and a myriad of specialist eateries. A bit like Brighton, with class !!
And so, which ever activities take your fancy, we'd welcome you to our little bit of France. Everything included, no silly additional costs !
