Three Bedroom Holiday Home with Swimming Pool in Savignac-de-Duras, Lot et Garonne

Dating from 1706, La Fleur de Savignac is a 3 bedroom holiday home in France with a pool. It is located on a domaine in Lot et Garonne, near the border with the Dordogne. The property overlooks the rolling hills and forests of the surrounding countryside. The 13th century Chateau Duras can be seen on the horizon. This lovely holiday home in France, is one of three houses on the 2.4 hectare domaine. It was originally a cottage but has been extended and recently updated to become a spacious and comfortable three bedroom holiday home. It has a separate living room, kitchen and bathroom. Thick stone walls insulate the house from the heat of the day. There is a private garden with a dining area and a 10x5m pool shared with the guests of the next door gîte.

A 105 sq metre (1,130 sq feet) house, comprising a master bedroom which is on the ground floor. The two other bedrooms are on the first floor with the the kitchen and bathroom. The well equipped kitchen has a gas cook top, microwave/oven and fridge. Kitchen equipment includes a Nespresso machine and a cafetiére French press coffee maker.  The TV offers French, English and Dutch stations. There is Fibre Optic Wifi. With thick stone walls, the downstairs bedroom is always cool. We supply fans for the upstairs bedrooms, and there are velux windows for ventilation. There is also a parasol to cover the dining table in the garden.

The Surrounding Area:
Savignac de Duras is on the border of Lot et Garonne in South West France, close to Perigord and Gironde. The town of Duras is three kilometres (one mile) away; Sainte Foy le Grande is 19 kilometres (11 miles), while Sainte Émilion and Bergerac are both 40 kilometres (24 miles). In the surrounding countryside are picturesque villages, castles, vineyards, forests and lakes.

Chateau Duras has a fascinating history and is well worth a visit. There are several good cafes and restaurants in the town, including Vins & Flots, which often has live music. A small museum pays homage to the French writer Marguerite Duras.

The Lot et Garonne region is renowned for gourmet food and wine, ranging from hand made chocolates at Maison Guinguet; to local produce such as strawberries and prunes to duck and foie gras. Maison des Vins stocks a large range of local wines. There are excellent food markets in the area, held on different days.

The Dordogne river is a 15 minute drive away. Swimming, kayaking, horse-riding, cycling and walking are all available in the area. Or you can simply stay put and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of this holiday home in France with pool, pétanque court and barbecue.

You will need a car to make the most of the local facilities, and there is a private parking space available.

Pool and washing machine are shared with the one bedroom gite next door. (The washing machine is in the barn.)
The upstairs bedrooms can be warm during summer. Fans are provided, and there are velux windows with blinds, which can be opened for ventilation. There are also mosquito nets, if needed.
There is a cot and high chair for little ones, as well as a child gate for the staircase.
The pool has a low fence and gate, as well as an alarm. However, it’s not 100% child proof. Children are the responsibility of parents at all times while on the property.
