Superb Modern Holiday Home on the Ile de Ré, Charente Maritime - La Retraite en Ré Reviews

We were very pleased to spend our Christmas/New year holidays in this absolutely gorgeous house. Situated in the heart of Ars en Ré, high standard, very tasteful set up/equipment, excellent beds/mattresses, modern heating. The outdoor spaces are great, espezially the sundeck.

We absolutely loved staying in Alan's house. The location in the heart of the village is very convenient, with easy access to the ocean, harbour, lots of walking and cycling. The house is pristine, with all modern conveniences and comfortable beds. Alan is a very hospitable, accessible and communicative host. We very much look forward to returning.

This was our first visit to Ile de Re, having wanted to visit for a while. Think we got lucky! The house is finished to an extremely high standard, is very comfortable and cosy, well equipped, featuring all mod cons and with some fun touches too, such as the illumnious sofas. It was also super clean on arrival which counts for so much. There are some lovely outdoor spaces too - a family table area and top sundeck to catch the afternoon/evening rays. The layout works really well and the back gate access for bikes is a great help, especially with children etc. Alan, the owner, is professional and helpful at all times and keen to ensure your stay goes smoothly. Location wise, we thought it was wonderful. We loved Ars-en-Re, which is a beautiful French town with a good mix of enough shops, bars and restaurants to keep everyone entertained or well-fed. It is a great place to base yourself to go off and explore this beautiful island, which with all its lovely beaches and kid-friendly cycle paths makes for a brilliant family holiday.

Very nice house with the current decoration of very good taste. Exceptional location, at the foot of shops, bike rentals, port. The village is beautiful, we can spend the week without taking the car. Perfect week for us. The owner is very available.

Ideally located in the heart of Ars this renovated town house has been decorated with great taste and care. The terrace is particularly amazing and all the facilities were very well thought out. Perfectly equipped, it lacks absolutely nothing to spend a very pleasant stay. I rented many houses on the Ile de Ré and it will remain among my favorites (and I am very difficult ...). I highly recommend this house that offers comfort worthy of a 3 star accommodation (a real!)! Thanks to Alan the owner for his very warm welcome ...
