“The property was comfortable and well-equipped with a brand new kitchen. The location was great. Just over an hour from Caen, we were able to tour a lot Normandy in the two weeks we stayed at La Baleine. It is an easy drive to the coast as well as being able to see Mont St Michel, Bayeaux and the Normandy beaches. Our hosts were superb, we could not have asked for better!”

“Fantastic ‘welcome’ package awaited us including fresh bread, salad, cheeses and a bottle of the local cider! Pat and Dave, the owners were lovely and extremely welcoming. On hand only if needed which we found very reassuring. The location was fantastic, central to all major tourist attractions of the area and only 20 minutes away from a great beach. The actual gite location was quiet, beautiful and within walking distance to a pleasant town and only 5 minute walk from an excellent restaurant (check this out on trip advisor). The Gite itself was perfect for us, exceptionally clean, cosy and very well equipped. And we couldn’t believe how brilliant the wifi was! We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay and would highly recommend it and will certainly consider a return visit”

“One of the best gites I have stayed in. Very well equipped and all your needs catered for. Surrounded by meadows all with resident cattle.loved the two feral cats who visited on a regular basis about 6.30 every night. No traffic noise whatsoever. Perfect”

“We had a great holiday at La Cachette! It’s a lovely well equipped cottage in beautiful surroundings with a large tree to sit in the shade when the weather was hot. There was a welcoming packet of grocery’s when we arrived which was very kind of Pat and Dave. And when I had really bad sunburn of my feet, Pat helped to cure it with aloe vera. Really kind owners. We visit the beach a lot who are in easy reach. Made also a lot of daytrips to the D-day beaches and museam, went to Cite de la Mer in Cherbourg (which is a must see!), the zoo in Champrepus, Caen, Granville and all the other places around La baleine. There’s a lot to see. The weather was beautiful and so was our holiday”

“THE PERFECT LOCATION AND THEN SOME”

The previous reviewer really captured the essence of this wonderfull place; it is an Oasis, it is Tranquil, it is beautiful, it is idyllic, it is comfortable, it is clean.

The Gite is presented as the owners Pat and Dave would like it to be if they were staying as guests and it is that approach which makes this place special.

Everything you need to have a great stay is provided with an abundance of information for the surrounding area and beyond. If there is anything else you need Pat and Dave are only oo happy to help.

Booking the Gite couldn’t have been easier, Pat stays in contact and is very happy to answer any questions; before you arrive you feel like a friend.

Hot water is abundant, electricity is constant, the phone signal is reliable as is the wifi……. I am typing this from the Gite on my laptop, just prior to our departure in a couple of days.

Crockery is plentiful, the welcome basket is delightful and very practical, especially after a long drive from Yorkshire. You will love the locally produced Cidre and if you do and want more, just ask Pat or Dave, they will be able to source it for you at a very, very reasonable price.

The bedroom is spacious, with more than sufficient storage space and, very important for the ladies, lots of hangers in the wardrobe. From the bedroom you walk down a solid wooden stair case to a spacious lounge/Kitchen. A good sized TV with satalite feed, for we British; not that you will be watching too much TV. You will be far too busy watching the birds and enjoying the peace.

If you have a stressful job and just want to chill, this is the place; if you prefer the more relaxed approach to exploring France, this is the place; if you are more adventurous, this is the place.

St-Malo to The Normandy Landing Beaches are all within easy reach; this location is ideal for giving you the holiday of your choice, not the choice of your travel agent.

I would not hesitate is recommending this little Oasis…….. If you are thinking of Booking, stop thinking, just do it, trust me, you will not regret it.

We wanted to come outside the normal arrival days, this was not a problem, because if the Gite is not available on the day your holiday starts Pat is able to offer B&B until the Gite becomes available.

I have just been to view the house where Pat and Dave offer B&B; if you can’t get the Gite for the dates you want, don’t mis the chance, because the B&B facilities are really the Bees’ Knees’, it is full of character, calming and comfortable.

Which ever you choose, you will not be disappointed

Delicious.
A beautifully situated holiday home in the middle of forests and tranquility. Very nice reception; nothing was too much to ask. Nice spot from here to visit the landing beaches and some lovely coastal towns. All necessities can be found in the vicinity.

Peace in the countryside with hospitable owners
A nice gite with a large lovely garden. Great for our labrador too! Very hospitable English owners in a quiet countryside location. Nice place to discover the charming typical French villages and beaches from here. We'll be back for sure!
