About Maison Carrée

Maison Carrée is set over 4 floors and is perfect for large groups of friends or family get togethers. The private gardens have a secured 10m x 5m (heated) swimming pool, BBQ table and chairs. Maison Carrée is ideally positioned just a few minutes stroll to Chalabre village. The village is very well served with a hotel with a restaurant, two bars, bakery, butchers, two small supermarkets, pharmacy, doctors, bank, tourist information office, post office there is also a small local market on Saturday mornings. Free WiFi is available throughout the house.

Entrance/Ground Floor

You are welcomed into a beautiful tiled hallway with sweeping stairs giving access to lower and upper floors. Off the hallway to the left is a large sitting room and to the right a large well equipped traditional kitchen with dining area.

Living Room: Comfortable sofas and chairs, flat screen TV with access to Netflix (own login required) and a sound system

Kitchen/Dining: Large kitchen area with hob, oven, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, dishwasher and fridge freezer, large dining table

Chalabre

The quiet pretty village of Chalabre is located about an hour south-west of Carcassonne. In the middle ages, Chalabre housed a thriving community and was the capital of the Quercorb, dominated by the Chateau de Mauleon.

Today many traces of its medieval roots remain intact, including its beautiful market square surrounded by half-timbered buildings. The chateau also plays its part, with jousting events and medieval music festivals staged there during the summer season. Chalabre is surrounded by beautiful countryside and the spectacular Pyrenees mountains. From the surrounding hilltops there are superb views of the Pyrenees and the area is a haven for keen walkers, equestrians or cyclists.

A speciality of Chalabre is Le Tougnol. This is a anise flavoured bread resembling the shape of a croissant. You can find them in the boulangerie, Denis Gérard, in Cours Colbert and in the tabac near the hotel.

Special Rental Conditions

The price includes 1 set of bed linen and bath towels. No towels for pool/beach use are supplied.

Changeover day is Saturday. Every effort will be made to have the property available from 16:00 on the day of arrival. The property must be vacated by 10:00 on the day of departure

On vacating the house please ensure:

Final overall cleaning of the house.
Hob, microwave and oven should be switched off and clean.
Remove all food from the fridge.
Dishwasher emptied and clean.
Dishes cleaned and in the cupboards.
Bed linen removed and put in baths.
Bins emptied and rubbish bags and bottles should be disposed of.
