The house in Ogeux is beautifully located on the outskirt of a rural village facing the Pyrenees and the snowy caps. It is comfortable home decorated with taste in a local and casual style; very practical for a family. We did not use the pool,we rented in early spring, but we enjoyed the fireplace. The particularity of this vacation home (we live in the US and rent from time to time) aside from the stunning view, is the care and the generosity of the owners, the house is well stocked with conveniences. We felt as invited friends to a home.

We rented the house for 5 nights from 18-23rd May with the intention of using it as a base to do some motorcycle touring in the Pyrenees region. Annabel was extremely helpful in meeting our requirements and providing useful information about the house and the area. Despite arriving late at night we found the house no problem and Harriet, the local contact had been good enough to get in a few essential supplies to keep us going until the following morining. The house had pleanty of sleeping accommodation for the 8 of us and the catering facilities in teh kitchen were first class.
In the morning a 10 min walk into Ogeu to the local supermarket and boulangerie sorted out breakfast and other necessary supplies.
The house was clean and well mainatained and had ample parking facilities, certainly more than enough for 8 motorcycles. Unfortunately the pool was being filled after some essential repairs on our arrival but after a couple of days it was back in use albeit slightly chilly. After a couple of days of heating the temperature was perfect.
The house proved a great base for touring the Pyrenees with some fantastic mountain roads for we sportsbike enthusiasts. From Ogeu it took us about 20 mins to get into the mountains and once you start making your way up the various Colls the scenery is breathtaking. We found Ogeu to be very quiet and couldn't find either of the restaurants but, then again we didn't look particularly hard! Outwith the mountains we found time to visit Pau, Lourdes and Oleron all of which were worth a visit. We rode to La Mongie to visit the mountain top observatory but unfortunately had to abandon our trip up the cable car due to extremely bad weather and poor visibility.
So the house proved perfect for us and we would certainly recommend it as a base for anyone planning on doing touring or sight seeing in the area.

We had a wonderful week. The house was just as expected, spacious and clean and very well equipped, including games and other things to entertain the children with us. The owners have been very thoughtful. We spent lots of time in the pool and relaxing on the sunny terrace enjoying the truly wonderful panoramic views of the mountains. The large garden also provided lots of room for outdoor games. We enjoyed driving into the mountains as the house is in a great location for easy exploring of some spectacular country, and had a memorable visit to the Parc'Ours at Borce (recommended), also a trip to Oloron, which is an interesting town and the market is well worth catching. Another time we would take the train to Pau as an easy day trip. However, we didn't feel much need to stir from such a peaceful and relaxing spot. It was perfect for a family holiday and we would highly recommend it as a place to unwind as well as a great base for exploring the area.

We loved the location of this house with fantastic views and easy access to the mountains, whilst still having easy access to Pau and the coast. We wanted for nothing in the house which was spotless for our arrival and notably well equipped in the kitchen, plus plenty of equipment for entertainment from dvds to table tennis and the fab pool.
It is a great base to explore the mountains. We had a week of fine weather and spent much of it outdoors looking at the amazing views, birdlife and rambling the well signposted walks. We were impressed by the files of local information and comprehensive set of walking maps available at the house.
Many thanks to Annabel and Thane for making the booking process so straightforward, and for sharing their lovely french home.

We stayed at this property in July `09 for one week. The directions supplied were very good and the house was easily found.
The property was clean, well maintained with excellent facilities including a lovely, heated, private pool directly outside the property with nice views of the mountains.Inside, the property was very spacious, having a large kitchen and dining area and comfortable lounge. The property was ideally located to explore the western end of the Pyrenees as well as being close to the lovely town of Oloron. As a keen cyclist I was in heaven, there are several famous cols nearby. We received excellent customer service both from the owners and their local agents.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to our friends.
