Spacious Gite with Pool and Jacuzzi in Arques, Aude, Languedoc, sleeps 4
Our spacious, two bedroomed gite sleeps 4/5 and has been renovated to a high standard. There is a large pool, outside terraces, summer kitchen and extensive grounds.
The property is on the edge of the attractive village, Arques. Arques is a beautiful village in Aude, Languedoc Roussillon, with its own bakery and bar. Further amenities are available in Couiza, a ten minute drive away. The nearest airport is at Carcassonne, which is under an hour away. You can also fly to Perpignan, Toulouse or Beziers.
The area is beautiful with mountain views in each direction. It is a perfect spot for walking or cycling holidays and the stunning scenery provides a perfect backdrop for painting or photography holidays. Horse riding holidays can be arranged out of high season, giving guests the opportunity to discover the area from a different perspective. Hacks can be adapted to the rider's needs and hats are provided. Just 40 minutes south of Carcassonne and 90 minutes north of the Spanish border

A perfect base for a walking holiday
Situated in the Haute Valle de l`Aude, Arques is surrounded by stunning scenery just waiting to be explored on foot.
With fourteen well signposted walks in the local area, you can have a different experience every day. Click on the image on the left for an example. From leisurely riverside walks to steep mountain climbs, it is up to you how much you stretch yourself. Walking in spring and autumn can be particularly pleasurable without the intense heat of the summer.

Cycling holidays
Whether you just want to cycle along, taking in the scenery, or whether you are a more serious cyclist, Les Reves in Arques is a great base for your cycling holiday.
Cycle routes for every ability are available in the area. Please click on the image on the left to see a variety of routes to be found locally. Cycling in the spring and autumn can be particularly pleasurable, without the intense heat of summer.
We even have some bicycles availabe at the gite!
Horse riding holidays
Have you ever wished that you could ride in France? Whether you are an experienced rider or more of a novice, we can create a package that is just right for you. Working with our next door neighbours, Jacques and Tania Raynaud we can offer riding holidays on a self catering basis.
Based on a 5 day/4 night riding holiday, in April, May, June, September or October, an example itinerary could look like this:
Day 1 Guests would arrive at Carcassonne airport and make the 45 minute journey here to meet Jacques and the horses. Settle in to the gite
Day 2 Half day hack (morning), then visit to Rennes le Chateau (featured in the Da Vinci Code) and Rennes les Bains, a pretty thermal spa town recently famous because of Kate Mosse's Labyrinth.
Day 3 Full day hack with picnic lunch
Day 4 Two hour hack (morning), then visit to La Cite at Carcassonne, famous medieval fortified town
Day 5 Departure
The amount of riding time could be adjusted to suit guests' needs.
Seeing this region from horseback is a wonderful experience. The stunning landscape dotted with fabulous chateaux is a sight to behold and your guide, Jacques, who speaks good English, is a font of knowledge on local history and flora.
The horses are beautifully cared for and have a very even temperament. Hats are provided. Riding during the spring and autumn gives both rider and horse a break from the intense heat of summer.

Special Rental Conditions
Les Reves is available for rental all year round, whether you are looking for the long hot days of summer, the beautiful colours of autumn, the crisp mountain air of winter or a spring break.

Minimum stay
During high season, July and August, the minimum stay is 7 nights. For all other booking periods, the minimum stay is 3 nights.
Changeover day is usually Saturday, although this is negotiable out of high season. The property will be available from 4 pm on day of arrival and you will need to vacate by 10 am on day of departure.
Booking notes
Please email/phone to check availability. We will then ask you to fill in a simple form and provide a 30% deposit. The balance will be needed 6 weeks before departure.
