Two immaculate self catering holiday gites to let in the Lot et Garonne on the borders of the Dordogne. A fabulous location near to Eymet, Duras, Bergerac, Marmande, Bordeaux and St Emillion.
We would love to welcome you to the beautiful "Guyenne" area of the Lot-et-Garonne countryside and to our 250 year old farmhouse, which is our home and our two gites (one bed and two bed). Guests can enjoy our 11m x 5m swimming pool, our pool is heated so the perfect temperature for a dip.
We have 2 lovingly restored holiday gites set in over 4½ acres of peaceful countryside. Our gites are spacious, fully equipped and guests have the use of our pool during their stay.
Maison du Jardin and Le Pot de Miel have been designed to provide our guests with all the facilities needed for a comfortable and relaxing holiday, plus extra touches to make the stay memorable. Both gites retain the character and quirkiness of the original 250 year old building together with the comforts of home.
A complimentary ‘starter’ pack, which includes tea, coffee, sugar, milk, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, washing powder, liquid hand soap, toilet rolls, and fabric conditioner is provided to ensure you can holiday straight away without the need to rush to the shops. We also provide a complimentary bottle of wine and bottled water for guests to enjoy. Also beach towels will be provided for your stay.
In the gite, guests will find a booklet which contains useful information, such as local amenities, details of the daily local markets, ideas for days out and our review of the local restaurants. We also provide updates on events happening in the area each month.
We live onsite which means we are available should you need our help or assistance. By prior arrangement we can organise wine tasting, excursions and a pick up and drop off service should you want to dine at one of the local restaurants without driving. We are always happy to share our knowledge of the area (and favourite wine choices!) with our guests.
Maison du Jardin is our lovingly restored two bed holiday gite available for rent. Maison du Jardin is designed for four (one double and one twin room), ideal for adults and families with children 12 years of age and upwards. The gite is fully equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible – dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, hairdryer, TV (SKY freesat), DVD, ipod/iphone docking station. Outdoor furniture is also provided for guests to use. We have electric heaters for the chillier months. There are more photos of Les Tournesols in our 'Photo Gallery'.
We have the ‘all important’ heated swimming pool for guests to use.Our pool has sunshine all day long, the perfect spot for relaxing and sunbathing. The pool is open from May to September and because it is heated it stays at the perfect temperature for a swim (weather permitting). Beach towels can be provided at no extra charge. Les Tournesols looks out onto the pool area and has its own area for outdoor dining and a barbeque.
Our farmhouse and gites are set in over 4 ½ acres of peaceful countryside close to Eyment, Bergerac, Duras, Miramont de Guyenne, Issigaec and easy access to Bordeaux, St. Emilion, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Local Attractions
There’s genuinely so much to see and do in the south west of France, Gironde and Aquitaine. Our farmhouse provides a superb location to take it all in, here’s a flavour of what there is to see and do….
The undulating landscape of the Lot et Garonne has been likened to that of Tuscany. A rich architectural heritage that reflects its eventful history – castles, Romanesque churches, bastide towns and picturesque villages are everywhere that has much to offer lovers of culture and the countryside.
We are within easy reach of the 12th-14th century Bastide towns of Eymet, Duras, Miramont de Guyenne and slightly further afield the acknowledged Monpazier. Brantome (visit the 9th Century Benedictine Abbey), Perigueux, Bordeaux (capital of Aquitaine), St Emilion are places you will remember and savour, well worth building into your itinerary.
Lovely walks on the doorstep and we are close to lakes with great facilities (canoes, beaches, swimming, pedalos) just over an hour from the coast and five minutes from bars, restaurants, bastide fortified villages, castles and caves.
The area is rich in human history from Cro-Magnon man in the Dordogne Valley to huge castles used during the hundred year’s war. Lascaux II offers a chance to see some of the best early cave paintings whilst Beynac et Cazenac, Sarlat, Domme and Castelnaud have huge medieval connections and are very picturesque.
We are just half an hour from Bergerac which is set on the banks of the Dordogne. During the Hundred Years’ War Bergerac was held alternately by the French and English. There are over three hundred thousand acres of vineyards in the area including the famous Monbazillac – a sweet wine to rival Sauterne.
