Provence Holiday Farmhouse in Seillans
Comprising: 3 double, 3 single bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 1 shower room
The modernised farmhouse, originally built in 1804, is set in about 7 acres of its own land. It is reached at the end of its own drive, 300 metres from the road.
The grounds originally included a jasmine garden (for the local parfumerie) and a working mill - now in ruin - powered by the lively perennial stream which still flows just as vigorously through the property. The whole property is in a valley, which slopes towards the adjoining medieval village of Seillans. The farmhouse affords stunning views of the medieval village which may be reached after a short walk through the grounds.
FARMHOUSE:
The house comprises 6 bedrooms, a large dining-drawing room, large kitchen, three full bathrooms and a shower-room with WC. The kitchen has a modrn range, washing-machine and dish-washer. TV and Wifi are available. The bedroom on the top floor - the old hay-loft - is a living space in itself. Apart from a large double-bed, it has its own marble bathroom with basin in one corner, as well as a well-stocked library of quality books. It also has direct access to the garden through the back. Also on the top floor, there is a smaller single bedroom suitable for a child or infant, and an adjoining shower-room with WC.
On the middle floor, there are two other double bedrooms (with en-suite bathroom) and a smaller bedroom. The single bedroom also has direct access to the garden. On the ground floor, which has the kitchen and dining-drawing room, there is a further small bedroom with en-suite full bathroom. The house is fully furnished throughout to a high standard, including fine bed-linen, towels, quality crockery, table-ware and kitchen utensils. There is a large portable ping-pong table.
Near the house there are lots of spaces for meals, and many recreational (and romantic!) spots. There is a 5 X 12-metre oval pool with large stone surround, and a Raj tent. The rest of the property features two large patios (in front of and beside the house) with Weber barbecue, walled terraces, oleander, roses, groves of fruit trees (olives, cherries, figs, apples, pears, plums, hazel-nuts, walnuts), a very large paddock and two small waterfalls. The property offers a rare combination of total seclusion, but quick access to the village along one of the paths through the grounds.

Local Attractions
Seillans is listed as ‘one of the prettiest villages of France’, an accolade shared with only 130 other villages. It is a village of artists, and has been home to Max Ernst, Dorothea Manning, Robert Doisneau and many others. The foundations are Roman and there is still evidence of building from the beginning of the second millennium. The chateau and church are in the centre of the village, which harbours an exquisite square under a natural dome of plane trees. At the top of the village there is an extensive open 'place' which is the local arena for the national sport of 'boules', and where there are frequent art markets in summer. Picturesque narrow cobbled paths lead down through the village past artists' shops and galleries. The village is also a destination for gastronomes. There are several restaurants and a culinary centre which gives courses in the summer.
Apart from the familiar French boulangeries, butcher's and grocer's shops, the village has a sizable supermarket and a petrol station. There is a medical and dental surgery, as well as a pharmacy and post-office. There are also 3 all-weather tennis courts (easily bookable) and a large municipal swimming-pool. For the aviators, France 's largest gliding centre is 3 miles away, and at about 20 minutes distance is a large recreational lake with swimming, boating and shore-side restaurants. It has also been used for training by the UK Olympic rowing teams. There are two golf courses within about 30 minutes, including the new and prestigious Terre Blanche course at Tourettes. The area is also a paradise for ramblers.
