Welcome to Les Croix - Charente Country Retreat. If you are looking for a holiday that is a complete escape from noise, stress, traffic and others, you are in the right place to rest relax and recharge your batteries !
We have been providing fishing holidays for small parties, with luxury lakeside accommodation, in the Charente Departement of the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region of South West France for 17 years.
Having taken the decision to reduce the number of weeks available for fishing, the venue is now available for holiday rental at a lower price point, thus giving access to a unique private holiday site.
The lake is still accessible for clients who wish to some coarse fishing.
The emphasis is still firmly on the provision of a high quality holiday experience with modern well appointed accommodation in a very rural and scenic location overlooking a four acre lake on an 8 acre site.
The modern, comfortable and well equipped lakeside accommodation - which has its own secure gated access, is located on an 8 acre fenced site and is situated just 30 metres from the lake.
The property is fully equipped and boasts a UK TV, a covered outside patio area with large gas barbeque and eating area. Adjacent to the accommodation is the solar heated swimming pool with patio, sunbeds and seating area.
Guests have exclusive use of the cottage and site ensuring total privacy for your holiday. Small and medium dogs are allowed. Sorry, no large breed dogs.
The venue is located in a very beautiful rural area of South West France, but is just 12 minutes drive from a large town that has all amenities, and is only 25 minutes drive from Limoges Airport.
A warm welcome and 24 hour on site assistance are standard in all stays at Les Croix Charente Country Retreat.
There is a good 4G phone signal on site along with high speed internet wi-fi in the accommodation so you can stay connected to the world (if you want to...!)
The Accommodation Facilities:
Only thirty metres from, and overlooking the lake, in a very private sunny location with oak woodland at the rear, the 65 square metre property sleeps up to 5 people, with 2 bedrooms, (bedroom 1 - double bed. bedroom 2 - three single beds).
Kitchen/living room with two leather sofas, dining area, 42" TV with SKY HD Freeview channels, DVD player and a 200 title DVD library. There is a good 4G signal here on site and wi-fi is available in the accommodation.
Bathroom with large luxury shower, wash basin, heated towel rail and English W/C.
The Kitchen has a fan oven, electric induction hob, cooker hood with extractor fan, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, fridge freezer, crockery, pans, cutlery and plenty of workspace and cupboard storage.
The gite is double glazed, well insulated and remains cool in summer and warm in the cooler months with heating in all rooms.
Fans are provided for summer use.
Cleaning products are supplied.
Outside you will find a covered tiled terrace area with large modern gas barbecue, table and chairs and the lawns leading down to the lake. Next to the terrace is the solar heated swimming pool (Open mid June to end September) and adjoining sun patio complete with shaded seating area, table and chairs and sun loungers.
The accommodation is maintained in immaculate condition and is thoroughly cleaned before every chageover - you will find it in spotless condition on your arrival.Gas, electricity, water and bed linen are all included in the price that you pay.
The accommodation is completely independant with its own gated access, and is situated on the opposite side of the lake to the owners' house.
Coarse fishing lake
Coarse fishing for roach, rudd, and small carp is included in the cost. The lake is literally teeming with roach and rudd going up to around 2lbs in weight. There are also a number of small mirror and common carp that are often caught whilst float fishing for the silver fish.
Fishing for the large carp that are present in the lake is not included in the retreat rental price.

Special Rental Conditions
The gite is a smoke free zone - smoking/vaping is not permitted inside.
To make a holiday reservation, we require a deposit of 50% of the total price. Bookings at short notice require payment in full at the time of booking. Advance bookings require a 25% payment at the time of booking, with a second 25% payment 6 weeks later, (alternatively a 50% first payment may be paid). All holiday payments are non-refundable.
All payments are by secure UK Bank Transfer - you will be sent an invoice and a payment request to facilitate payment.
Once we have received your deposit, your holiday will be reserved and confirmed by an email attachment giving details of payment received and remaining payments with dates. The final 50% balance must be paid no later than 12 weeks before the start of your holiday. If payment is not received by this time we reserve the right to cancel the booking. When a booking is made within 12 weeks of arrival, payment of the full amount is required at the time of booking as stated above.
A refundable damages/cleaning deposit of £200 is payable also by bank transfer, this must be paid at least 7 days before the arrival date. This deposit will be refunded after the holiday, once a full inspection of the accommodation has taken place. Any damages will be taken from the deposit, in addition to a cleaning fee of £50 if the accommodation is not left in a clean and tidy state.
We reserve the right to terminate your holiday at any time in the case of non-compliance with the terms and conditions, or causing harm or disturbance to others, grounds, or property. You will not be eligible for a refund and may incur additional costs for damage.
ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE TIMES
Customers can arrive after 16:00 on the Saturday of arrival, and must leave the site by 10:00 the following Saturday of departure. If you will be arriving later than 18:00, please telephone to let us know. Thank you for your co-operation.
