The Area:
The central location of La Saga means you have a range shops including bakers, butchers, patisseries, cafes, bars and restaurants on your doorstep.

L’isle sur la Sorgue is just 10 km away, and hosts one of the biggest antique markets in Europe every Sunday. The city of Avignon, famed for its Palais de Papes is 25 km drive.
The main airport serving Provence is Marseille-Marignane lies 27km northwest of Marseille Centre, 80 km from La Saga. The airport

Local Attractions
There are more than 8 boulangeries in the village, the nearest only a minute or 2 walk. A visit to Madam Batou's patisserie at the bottom of rue Emile Zola is a must. Not only does she bake great croissants and bread, but her cakes are works of art not to be missed. The butchers just before Madam Batou's patisserie is also worth a visit, selling typical provençal cuts and if they do not have what you require they will make sure they get it for you within a few days.
Turn left out of La Saga and head to the top of the street, across the road you will find a great fruit and veg store selling local produce. Next door is a fantastic specialist wine and cheese shop. The owner is extremely helpful and will organise a tasting session at the house if you fancy it.
You will find a selection of restaurants in Pernes les Fontaines. We highly recommend a meal at La Camarette, located approximately 2km from La Saga. Number one on tripadvisor for restaurants in the area, the chef, Hughes Marrec never disappoints.
La Camarette is an auberge where they also produce their own olive oil and wine. Nancy Gontier runs the produce side and is happy to organise you a visit to the domaine, so you can learn about the process and also get to taste their delicious wine!
Activities:
Cycling or walking around Pernes les Fontaines and its surrounding area is one of the very best ways to see the beautiful countryside and explore the Mount Ventoux region.
Immediately to the east is the Plateau de Vaucluse where there are many hiking trails. The canal de Carpentras is a great route for walking, running or cycling. It runs from Carpentras to Fontaine de Vaucluse, passing through Pernes and Isle sur la Sorgue. The spring and the beautiful Sorgue river have made the Fontaine de Vaucluse a tourist destination, and if you are feeling energetic you can kayak down the Sorgue, taking in the scenery from a different angle.
There are wonderful markets in many of the villages throughout the Vaucluse, including the farmers market every evening in Velleron, the huge Friday market in Carpentras, the internationally reknowned antiques market in Isle sur la Sorgue, the Monday market in Saint Didier, and not forgetting the Pernes market every Saturday, selling local wine, olive oil and food produce, lavender and honey products and much more.
