Luxury Holiday Gites with Pool, Designed For Couples In Beautiful Countryside, Dordogne Reviews

We wanted a peaceful location, a pool, comfort, a really French feel to the gite, nearby restaurants, interesting local places to visit...we got all that plus Christine and Gerard made us so welcome. La Creche is spacious and comfortable, well-equipped kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Ideal for two people. All the rooms have french windows opening out onto a bbq terrace and sitting out areas. The swimming pool is excellent. Issigeac, the nearest town (2k distance), has very good restaurants and a great Sunday market. The medieval Bastide towns abound in this area and make good destinations for daily outings. We borrowed the mountain bikes for short trips - all in all we look forward to a return visit soon.

On arrival we where greeted by Christine & Gerard who made us very welcome . The gite was very well equipped clean and well maintained. The location and layout was just what we expected. Christine & Gerard provided excellent customer service and advise and would certainly recommend the property to friends The local pizza place was quite resonable but the main restaurant was closed for part of the week.

We really enjoyed our stay and have re-booked for next year.

This was our fifth stay at La Barrat and the first with the new owners Gerard and Christine who were excellent hosts. The Gites are to a high standard, well presented and very clean and tidy.

This is a very peaceful area though only a short distance from Issigeac and a 15 minute drive to the center of Bergerac.

This is a great area for walking and cycling. Issigeac tourism has produced some very good walking maps of the area and there are a number of clearly marked walks to enjoy with lots of wildlife to see. see www.issigeac-tourisme.fr.

There are two very good local restaurants and many of all types in Bergerac and the local towns.

We find this a great base to explore the Dordogne region with plenty to see and do.

Once again La Creche delivered a tranquil, stress free holiday. It's idyllic location on the outskirts of Issigeac is second to none. New owners Christine and Gerard have put their mark on the premises and raised the standard of the accommodation and grounds to a higher level. The local people are very friendly and helpful which makes for a great holiday. Weather was fabulous as well. We have already booked for next year.

The location is in the middle of rural France close to Issigeac a charming medieval fortress town. The delightful surroundings of La Barrat and the kind and attentive hosts make a stay here very special . We love the place and the people and have booked a return next year. The accommodation is generously proportioned, well equipped and very comfortable. It is peaceful. The pool is stunning in a discrete location set in a backdrop of a small valley where the hay is cut each year when we are there. A simply gorgeous place to stay.

We had a fantastic week in La Sechoir at La Barrat in May. The gite is very spacious, well equipped and furnished to a high standard. The surrounding area is beautiful and very peaceful and had several enjoyable walks down to the lake.

Would recommend La Brucelière for a meal, the food and service was excellent. Do not miss the Sunday market at Issigeac, the hot food stalls are amazing.

We spend very enjoyable days at Bergerac, Villereal, Monpazier, Limeuil and wine tasting at Chateau de Monbazilac, all highly recommended.

Christine and Gerard are fabulous hosts, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

We hope to return next year.

La Barrat is just magic and an ideal location. We have stayed in Le Sechoir and La Creche, both are immaculate,charming and well equipped. Gerrard and Christine are perfect hosts, warm friendly and helpful whilst respecting our privacy.The gardens and pool are perfect to relax in. Issigeac is a beautiful village a visit to the Sunday market is a must. We cannot wait for our third visit to this lovely place.

It’s a lovely place to be ! It’s all so quiet and clean. Gérard and Christine’s home is fully equipped and well located to visit the cute villages all around You can also ask Gérard to give you good local addresses. In may, the swimming pool was still a bit cold, but very pleasant after a whole day of visiting. Everything was great. Enjoy !

The gîte was perfect, so comfortable & private & with acres of land to walk in & enjoy. It was too early for the pool but we firmly intend to return later in the year to enjoy it!
