The two stone built cottages sleep upto 7 people, with 5 in La Maisonette and 2 in La Mignon Maison. We do have a cot if required . They are situated in a small Hamlet on the outskirts of Saint Pierre de Juillers.
It is an ideal base to explore the surrounding villages and the beautiful Atlantic coastline. The surrounding views include fields of sunflowers, melons, wheat, barley, maize and vines. The garden is mainly grass with mature trees, leading to woodland. The cottage is situated in the Charente Maritime region, which is renowned for it's micro climate and is the second sunniest part of France after the Riveria.
La Maisonette was built in 1819 and was part of a small farm, the cottage was built with local limestone. With nearly 200 years of love and care, the cottage is still standing with it's original walls.
Inside, there is a large living room (36 square metres) with a log burner, tv, free internet, plenty of dvd's and games. A fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, electric oven, gas hob, coffee maker, washing machine and log burner. Stairs from the kitchen lead to the landing, bedrooms and newly renovated shower room. The first bedroom has a double bed and the second has 1 double and 1 single bed. All the bedrooms and shower room have electric radiators.Outside the cottage is a nice seating area with table and chairs and outside lighting. Behind the cottage you will find the large heated swimming pool with an outdoor shower, sunbeds, comfy seating under a gazebo and table and chairs with umbrella. There are also inflatibles for children to use. The pool area is enclosed with stone walls and child proof locks on the gates with a pool alarm.
La Mignon Maison
It consists of a large living room/kitchen with a fireplace (which dates the cottage back to around 1740). The kitchen has a gas hob, mini oven and microwave, fridge, dishwasher, coffee machine, table and chairs. There is a tv and free wifi, plenty of books to read. Upstairs is a large bedroom with ensuite, a double. The outside seating area is in a nice sun trap and has chairs, table, sun umbrellla for shade and outside lighting at night.
The pool is for guests only.
The nearest town is Saint Jean d'Angley, only a short 10 minute drive away. A picturesque town which is lovely to walk around! It has lots of hidden gems including plenty of restaurants and friendly bars. On a Wednesday and Saturday morning there is a market on in the town where you can experience many local delicacies. On the outskirts of the town, there are some large supermarkets which you'll be able to get all your necessities from.

La Rochelle is a vibrant city which has a fantastic aquarium to visit. The architecture is worth seeing along with great shops and fantastic restaurants. There are street entertainers, market stalls and boat tours are available too. Very popular and always busy.
Venise Verte (60 mins);
Venise Verte or 'Green Venice' is an area where you can hire a boat and explore the waterways, enjoying picturesque views.
Cognac (30 mins);
Set along the River Charente, Cognac offers tours and tastings around it's famous brandy houses. Boating trips are available too.
Saintes (30 mins):
The roman town of Saintes has many ruins including an amphitheatre and the Arch of Germanicus. Along with plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops, you will never be short of something to do. The market is on a Saturday morning by the river.
Poitiers (60 mins):
Poiters has a Romanesque church of Eglise Notre-Dame la Grande which is famous for it’s carved façade and is well worth a visit. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants. Not far from Poitiers is Futuroscope which is one of the largest leisure parks in France, it has 3D and 4D cinemas.
Ile de Re (60 min).:
Ile de Re is an island off the west coast of France. It's known for it's salt marshes and beaches like the Plage de la Conche des Baleines, backed by dunes and pine trees. The main town of St Martin de Re has the 17th century fortifications of Vauban, plus outdoor cafes overlooking the marina.
Zoo de la Palmyre (80 mins);
The Zoo consists of 18 hectares of pine forest and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Charente Maritime.
Near by is also Al Karting and a Mini Golf course.
