“We spent a week Le Prielle in August this year: it was delightfully relaxing, peaceful and – above all – friendly and welcoming. Right from the outset communication (via email) was warm and friendly. No query seemed tiresome, responses were swift and the overriding impression I got was that Simon & Paulette wanted to ensure their guests have a great holiday. The accommodation is charming and well-laid out, ensuring all guests can have their privacy or join in with others, if they wish. We had plenty space for 6 of us (grandparents, parents and 2 children) and the gite was well-equipped, with plenty of cooking utensils and a great barbecue with outdoor seating. The children loved the space and freedom to roam (as soon as we arrived, Paulette took the children to show them around the vegetable garden and to feed the hens, allowing us to unpack), as well as the beautiful pool and outdoor play area. Paulette & Simon were available and approachable (often found chatting with guests – many of whom appeared to have visited at least once before, which is a great sign) and happy to give advice and recommendations. In addition, there is a wealth of information provided on the local vicinity and further afield. We greatly appreciated the information on nearby shops and restaurants, complete with opening hours and suggestions (“don’t eat beforehand” when going to the Relais d’Aydie was a useful, if understated piece of advice!). Simon & Paulette invited all the guests (4 families, with around 12 children) to a bonfire one evening, and we all chatted over local wine and toasted marshmallows. Our 7-year-old was fascinated by the night sky and Simon spent quite some time pointing out constellations and so on using a great app on his phone. A real highlight for her. The area itself is beautiful, with charming countryside, some beautiful villages and, of course, plenty of wine to be sampled. The city of Pau is well worth a visit and not too much further are the Pyrenees (we managed one good day’s hiking), the Atlantic coast and the delights of Northwestern Spain (although we felt this would be a little far for us, it would be easily achievable without children, or with older ones).
All-in-all, we would highly recommend Le Prielle to anyone. Despite (so far!) always going somewhere new during our summer holidays, we would definitely consider coming back here one day”
