This apartment is in the perfect location in Les Arcs. It is truthfully described as near the Charmettoger ski-lift - walk along the corridor past three other flats, out the door and the lift is in front of you. Ski-passes and ski-hire are 2 minutes walk away along with a small boulangerie that also sells a few necessities and, in the evenings very nice takeaway pizzas. The skipass office has limited opening hours but the main office is only 10 minutes away. The people in both skipass offices spoke excellent English with basic English spoken in the ski hire shop.
The main centre is 10 minutes walk away and has everything you need - decent supermarket, ski-schools, main skipass office, restaurants. We weren't particularly impressed by the restaurants generally but they were OK. The creperie was really nice and we wished we had realised before going there that they also do salads so you can have a whole meal.
The ski-ing is varied and the wooded area is pretty. The runs tend to be long so make sure you are fit! Allow a full day if you ski over to La Plagne. A trip to Bourg St Maurice made a change one foggy morning.
The property was clean and tidy and equipped as described. Remember that this is a French apartment and as such space would be tight for eight people although in theory there are beds for eight. Our children were 18 and 17 at the time of our visit so adult sized and it was ideal for us four. The only bedroom which has a proper door is the double. Both the bunk rooms have only curtains to separate them from the landing. Family staying in another apartment joined us for meals some evenings and in the lounge/dining area there is plenty of room for six.
There is always hot water and to have two WCs was wonderful! The apartment is warm - it took us a day or two to get used to the controls but not a problem.
There are thoughtful touches like plastic trays to put boots in and the balcony makes a handy dumping ground! The owner met us on arrival and assured us of assistance throughout our stay if we needed it. The booking process was very straightforward, emails are responded to promptly and our deposit was returned very quickly.
This apartment is ideal for families but I would hesitate to recommend it for eight. You will not find anything nearer the slopes so if you like ski in/ski out this is the place to stay! Travelling with Eurostar is very convenient if like us you live near London.
We have booked for spring 2014!!
