This apartment is probably the most enchanting one I have ever rented, and I rent apartments frequently when I travel. The web site gives an excellent description which is truly accurate in describing all the good points and possible problems (the stairs for infirm people). I managed those stairs (I am 75 years old) and just treated them as a ‘challenge’. And there are so many ‘pluses’ about the apartment that the latter was incidental.
There are 3 rooms, each of which leads into the next and I felt a little like 'Alice in Wonderland' as I went from the kitchen/dining room into the living room and then into the bedroom, with the beamed ceilings getting lower each time and me getting taller! It was the first time I felt really tall (I am barely 4'11" now) and I loved it! By the bedroom, my head just grazed the beams!! However, Mike, the property manager who met me, could stand in the room between the beams without a problem, so it is probably not as low as I thought.
The apartment is decorated beautifully, with incredible attention paid to small details, and that made it really special. It was also spotlessly clean, and there were cleaning things available so that one could keep it that way. It is in Old Town Nice, so typical of the architecture there and I felt very much of a native for the week! There is no telephone, radio or TV in the apartment, but there is a DVD/CD player with current DVD’s available, and it was rather nice not to be bombarded with electronic devices when on holiday. There is an internet café just below if one needs ‘outside connections’.
A couple of previous reviews of the apartment mentioned the noise from the street; it was actually quiet except for Friday and Saturday, and considering that the Friday I was there was New Year's Eve, one would expect that anyway. Perhaps in summer, when the windows would need to be left open it would be worse, but I didn't find it a problem at all.
I can hardly wait to go back and am planning another trip next year, and for a longer period.
