The villa was ideally situated - handy for the airport but far enough away from Ajaccio to appreciate the tranquility of the surroundings. It was very well equipped and comfortable - we particularly liked having a bath as most holiday properties only seem to have showers! There was plenty of hot water, too. The new kitchen was fab.
Fred was a lovely chap and couldn't have been more helpful. He even came to our rescue at the petrol station when we couldn't get the petrol cap off!
We loved the island and did lots of walking and exploring. You have to expect long journeys as the roads are good but very winding and slow in places. Some recommendations would be :
Propriano and Sartene
Prunelli Gorges (do a round trip as there is a lovely waterfall in the opposite valley)
Fillitosa (prehistoric site - absolutely amazing)
The train from Ajaccio to Corte (we caught it from Mezzana to avoid having to drive into Ajaccio). If you get off at Vizzavona there is a beautiful walk to the Cascades des Anglais. The train ride between Vizzavona and Corte is spectacular. The train fare was very reasonable.
The boat trip from Porticcio to Scandola Nature Reserve and Girolata - stunning views and we saw some ospreys.
We liked the "Abri-Cote" restaurant in Porticcio - good food, reasonable prices and friendly service plus a view across the bay.
