My husband, son and two grandchildren, ages 10 and 14, enjoyed Linol House for a week, but wished it had been longer. The house is precisely as presented in the photos: Picturesque and rustic, but very clean and comfortable and thoroughly up to date--though satellite wifi is limited. There is plenty of space for loungers, readers, baskers, and nappers. It perches high on the western side of the hill below Beynac Castle with a broad view across fields and forests and the Dordogne Valley. The weather was in the 100s, which was rare and unwelcome, but the hillside location meant constant breezes, and the ancient stone walls retained night time cool. Our approach was to shutter the house while we visited Sarlat, Domme, Les Ezies de Tayac, Beynac and Castelnaud castles, and farmers markets during the late morning and afternoon and immerse ourselves gratefully in the pool later and into the evening until dinner on the lovely terrace, when we opened up the house. The donkeys are very cute and entertaining, though the first heehaw is a riveting experience. The roads to the farms and the hamlet of Cazenac are lightly traveled and fine for walking or biking.
