Such a delight to find this Gite! Perfect place for rest and relaxation- quiet, beautiful surroundings, friendly and helpful owners. Close enough to the village to easily walk there. I highly recommend this special place.

Au Pont Romain is set in beautiful surroundings. If you want a special holiday, this is the ideal place. You can relax by the pool or enjoy the beautiful scenery and amenities nearby. Andy and Su are fantastic hosts. Their BBQ’s and wine tasting evenings are a must and Su is a wonderful cook.

For us Scots, don’t forget the summer flights from Glasgow are so convenient.

We can highly recommend Le Pont Romaine as we had a great holiday here in June 2014 staying in Le Moulin gite. Andy & Su the proprietors couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The accommodation was generous for the two of us especially as we tended to eat outside. The grounds are lovely with the river running through them and at the back of the property is an immaculately maintained pool & sun area. The property is in a natural amphitheatre of hills and is a 10 minute flat walk into Caunes-Minervois. There is a regular wine tasting on Friday evening led by Andy (who is very knowledgeable about the local produce) which we enjoyed because it gave us the chance to meet some of the other guests. There was also a barbecue which was another good social event. This is a great base for exploring Carcassonne and the surrounding area which is full of interesting geography & history Caunes has a substantial Abbey, narrow streets with old houses bars, a cafe and a couple of restaurants. Restaurant d’Alibert is run by a man who can do humour in at least two languages and where, if you eat in the courtyard, you can watch the swifts and bats flying around the hotel roof 3 storeys up.

Lovely location, excellent accommodation, well maintained pool and the 2 nights hosted by Andy and Sue were very enjoyable. Short walk into town and its many bars and cafes. Loved our time here.
