La Terrasse des Pecheurs - In the "fishermen's street" of Marseillan village's quiet Tabarka harbour, this 3-bedroom, 2-bath townhouse is a favourite family base, just a gentle stroll from the bustling restaurants and cafes of the main port.

A couple of hundred yards from those quayside tables, yet who would guess from the timelessness of the Tabarka where the only sounds of a summer evening come from the dusk cries of crickets and swallows, the calls of optimistic seabirds following a late returning fishing boat and the gentle tinkle of the breeze rustling through the rigging of boats safely moored for the night.

The oyster beds of the etang provide fabulous seafood suppers to be savoured on the south-facing terrace and market fresh ingredients can always be prepared in the fully fitted kitchen in the bright and airy first floor salon.

On the Ground Floor:

Tiled porchway leading to the Entrance hall, double bedroom and bathroom/wc.
A comfortable double-bedroom makes a virtual suite, with the bathroom next door featuring a proper bath tub as well as a shower option.

Popular with parents when the two top-floor bedrooms and shower-room are the domain of the younger members of the family.

Another door off the hallway leads to a secure bicycle store.

This house is the first choice for cyclists and outdoor types as the perfect base for countless bike rides around the area. There is an unrivalled network of cycle lanes linking Marseillan to nearby towns and villages.

Ride through the vineyards to the historic centre of Agde. Or join the brand new network that embraces the lagoon, a perfect circuit for a two wheeled adventure throthe seafood fishing villages of Balaruc and Meze to the canals of the port of Sete. Then ride home along the Lido coastal path, besides miles and miles of Mediterranean beaches all the way to Marseillan Plage.

Visit us in June, when you may sign up to join the annual Tour Thau event, where your yellow t-shirt with pride and join in a celebration lunch and festivities at the finishing line.

Upstairs at Terrasse de Pecheurs to the first floor living area:

Here is the sunny south-facing salon-sejour with smart, fully-fitted kitchen, complete with the option to cook with either gas or electricity.

Four-ring hob, oven and microwave, a family-sized fridge-freezer make preparing meals all part of the fun. The integrated dishwasher and washing machine guarantees that nothing becomes too much of a chore.

The lounge and dining area, with TV and DVD player,  leads to the south-facing terrace with its outdoor dining suite.
ENJOY UNLIMITED WI-FI INTERNET ACCESS DURING YOUR STAY AT THE TERRASSE DES PECHEURS.

You may take your laptop out onto the terrace to email family and friends or enjoy the cool comfort of a bedroom workstation for moments online.

If you are travelling a deux, why not invite friends to come and join your for your second week - they may have their own part of the house after all. And you will meet up for drinks on the terrace!

When the sun is at its height - remember this south facing house basks in the glorious sunshine all year round - we've worn T-shirts on the terrace on Christmas afternoon (although we needed our pullovers by evening!) - and summer is relentlessly golden, the living room provides cool shade as the wind gently billows the drapes and filters the sunlight.

Here, you can snuggle up with a good read and lose yourself in the guilty pleasures of flit-lit, reading other people's Languedoc adventures.
Or you could spread out a large scale map of the region and lean over the kitchen table, planning your own excursions to the many treats and treasures of the coast and the arriere pays.

Otherwise you could always take pot luck, and perhaps pick up a reliable Le Carre or John Grisham from the shelves at the house, and settle down for an afternoon under the new awning on the south facing terrace. or simply sort out a stack of bedtime reading to keep close by on the coffee table.

Look out on the sleepy street when the breeze blows from the church tower and hear the village bell chime the (approximate) hour. The view from the terrace overlooks neighbouring gardens, or choose to peer out the kitchen window towards the Port Tabarka, the view of Sete across the lagoon punctuated by the masts of sailing boats.

After an evening on the terrace,  toasting the moonrise over the lagoon, and reliving the highlights of the day Climb the smart tiled stairs in their wooden frame to the Second Floor of Terrasse des Pecheurs:

This top level, with a shower room and wc, is home to the bright south-facing master bedroom and a third  bedroom with twin beds and views across the water.

Fling open the shutters each morning to greet the dawn.

From the bedrooms, look out over the Pêcheurs quarter. The back bedroom has views across to the lagoon. The front room peeks over a neighbours old stone wall to a garden filled with mature fig trees and bamboo

From the twin room at the back of the house, you may wake up to sunrise views over the spectacular oysterbeds of the Etang de Thau, the quaint little Port Tabarka and other vistas to the mountain-lined horizon across the little park.

This house works well for families with teenage kids - and also ideal for two couples too.

Since with bedrooms and bathrooms  on the ground and top floors, and the living area in no man's land, peace reigns supreme as each party has its own space at each end of the day!

No wonder that this house has been a firm favourite with our guests for many years.

So, why not check with us when you too can take time to enjoy the real Marseillan from the comfort and ideal location of La Terrasse des Pecheurs, The family home in the fishermen's street by the port Tabarka.
