La Riviere - 3 Bedroom Gite Beside the River in Caunes-Minervois, Aude Reviews

This is our family’s first holiday here and we have all thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay with Andy and Su. The perfect peaceful location to relax and enjoy your time in the region. The sweet little town is an easy 15 minute walk away with bars and restaurants, small supermarket, local shops and cash point etc. it was lovely not to have to get in the car for everything 🙂 Lots to do in the area also and less than an hour to the Med.

The pool and grounds are lovely and the river running through the grounds is great to explore with the children.

We have been coming to this special place for 10 years. This lovely converted mill sits in an idyllic setting at the foothills of the Montagne Noire and has a wonderful pool. Hosts Andy and Su make everyone feel welcome – Andy’s wine tastings are a favourite. We’ll be back.

I stayed here for the weekend with friends. Outstanding hospitality, fabulous scenery! 10 minutes walk from Caunes down a quiet road along a river. Just an extraordinary place to be! Even the views from the pool are amazing!

This is a heaven on earth spot. Hidden at the foot of the mountains next to a lovely river. Lovely private guites (2-6pp), a great swimmingpool, a very large garden with lots of spots to sit down and enjoy nature (or a good book) and last but not least: the hosts Su and Andy! Every week there is a free winetasting and they also organize a great BBQ evening every week! Lots to do in the area: visiting Carcassonne, Canal du Midi, many caves, castles, abbeys,… The pitoresque city Caunes Minervois is 1km down the road and has lovely restaurants and pubs.

Glad we where able to go on holiday during this pandemic. Au pont romain is a perfect spot to feel safe on holiday. The lovely swimming pool had many sun lounges in different areas of the pool. Never crowdy, as the people of the 4 gites never went swimming at the same time. That because there is a lot to explore in the surroundings. Nice touristic sights that are never crowdy. Except la cité de Carcasonne but we went at 8 in the evening and the streets where nearly abandoned. Together whith the sunset a perfect moment to get the best pictures with the camera!

Andy and Su, are perfect hosts! They do a free winetasting every week where they present 5 local wines they selected. You are free to buy some afterwards to drink at the spot our to take home. Every sunday there is also the 3 course BBQ you can attend. Great food and wine and Su and Andy maked sure everyone had is own table to sit at to make sure the social distancing was ok. We’ll go back!
