Thank you for sharing your villa with us and the warm welcome you gave us. The lovely pool was enjoyed by all and is the best place to spend the sunny days with our children / grandchildren. It is such a lovely area with many diverse villages to explore.
A great time was had by us, our son and daughter-in-law and three grandchildren during our stay at La Perode. The Area is outstanding with so many lovely villages and towns to visit and the facilities provided at La Perode met everything we were looking for. I would have no hesitation in recommending La Perode to others.

A very warm welcome from Alec & Annie. Beautifully restored farmhouse - lovely bedrooms - 1st class facilities. Large pool - enjoyed by all - ample space for outside eating. Recommend the local market square food gathering on a Wednesday night in August!
3 families spent a fantastic week here. We really liked the barbecue/ kitchen area by the pool. Great for relaxed dining after a day exploring. Alec and Annie are generous hosts who went out of their way to ensure we all had a great time. Would thoroughly recommend spending time here.

“Fantastic, adventure, beautiful, fun, friendly & fabulous!” Just a few words our children used to describe our two week holiday! We are two families with six children aged 12, 10, 9 & 7 years old. The pool featured a lot during their holiday and the adults were able to do lots of relaxing at the poolside. La Perode has been a wonderful place to relax and explore the locality of Rouffignac and beyond. We had a few days out, including a trip to the ‘grottes’ (caves). We actually had two visits as it seems to be very popular so we had to book tickets in advance. The snail farm was also a highlight where all the children enjoyed eating them! And finding out about how they are farmed. The gourmand market was great but ensure that you get there early (6.30 or before) to ensure you get a table.
On the only overcast day we decided to take a canoe trip – it was beautiful, a little hard work, but definitely a good way to see the scenery.
Alec & Annie have been wonderful hosts and it has been a pleasure to stay at their beautiful house. We hope to return in the future…. Thanks from us all.

A fabulous place to stay – couldn’t have asked for more. Everything we needed and much, much more. Alec & Annie have been superb hosts, welcoming and helpful. Pity we were only here for a week as so much to explore. Suggest kayaking - a great activity for all the family. Thanks so much for a great stay. Au revoir.

We had very varied weather for two weeks. Pleasantly warm, cool, incredibly hot (38DegC at hottest) and rain on our last day. But the children swam in the lovely pool every day as the cover maintains warm water.
We have enjoyed ourselves going to the cave (with train) in Rouffignac to see the mammoths, horses, etc, painted on the walls – but all in French. We also went to the caves in Grand Roc which was excellent, with a lovely guide who answered the children’s questions in English. We went to the museum in Les Eyzies, which was good, and for the children to the per-histo park which they enjoyed. We really enjoyed our boat trip on the Dordogne at La Roche Gageac which was about 50 minutes and the scenery is lovely. Castelnaud was a great success – very professional but fun. We were a very mixed age group but one thing we all agreed upon was the super pool area and the facilities to eat outside at various spots. We also enjoyed the walks available nearby the gite.
We would all like to thank our hospitable and helpful hosts Alec & Annie

We were fortunate enough to spend a whole month at the delightful 'La Perode' and it is difficult knowing where to start. Firstly, Alec & Annie were the perfect hosts - always there when needed and able to give wonderful advice on where to eat or take a boat trip - even down to providing the right implements to retrieve a lost ring from a plughole. The countryside must be amongst the very best in the world! The route from Plazac to Fanlac (one restaurant only but worth a visit), Rocamadour, Sarlat (walk in the back streets), Gouffre de Padirac (longish trip beyond Sarlat); local caves here are good and go on the river Dordogne. Eat at St Leon sur Vezere and walk around the village. Roque St Christophe is good as is the local Chateau L'Herm. Hautfort is a good day, see the chateau, have lunch and the local museum of medecine - use the tourist route to aproach the chateau. Try Castelnaud - again views are wonderful and chateau of great interest. Market day in Sarlat is Wednesday - we ate at 'Le Tourny' in middle of town. 4 courses €15 euros lunchtime. Unbelievable. And not all duck (it is hard to avoid duck / foie gras in this area). Also try L'Auberge du Pont in St Leon sur Vezere at lunchtime 3 courses €16.80 lovely village and eat outside but save the coffee. Instead walk to the church & river and there is a delightful riverside cafe - perfect for your after lunch cafe. Rouffignac is great - has all you need. Cafe de Paris for a coffee or beer with the locals and 'Blondys' boulangerie is excellent. Tried all their cakes and they are fab, as are the quiches and obvioulsy the bread & croissants. The boucherie is also excellent and Carrefour has all the basics and some good wine. The swimming pool area is wonderful and we enjoyed many memorable BBQ's. This was a wonderful holiday offering everything from great walks to spectacular chateaux /cycling / restaurants and all in a laid back French way! Many thanks for a marvellous holiday.
Rosemary & Hedley plus family and friends, Bucks,
We had a great week here with three generations of our family. The weather has been very mixed with a fantastic storm one night and some very hot days. Highlights of our week were a Thursday evening trip to Chateau du Marqueyssac for the candlelight evening with music. The saxophonists, jazz singer, strings and piano player are all excellent and contribute to a magical evening. Can also recommend the ice creams there. Boat trip on a gabarre from Baynac - fun and informative. Running to the village for pain-au-raisin (young members of the group) of approx. 10 minutes. There is so much to do in the area we only just touched upon it. The rest of the time we spent enjoying this wonderfully peaceful haven. Thank you for a wonderful week.

Excellent House that ticks all the boxes
We were lucky enough to spend the whole month of September at this property. The property was full of character but with excellent modern facilities. The three main bedrooms were very large with good showers, nice furniture, balconies and great views. There is also a good sized TV with UK channels - not that we watched it very much. The star of the show was the outdoor area which has everything you need - fridge, weber BBQ, changing room, large shower, table tennis table, kettle for making a cuppa - heaps of plastic crockery and we had lots of memorable lunches and evening BBQ's out here. The pool is an excellent size and well-maintained by Alec. It is also close to the house. Rouffignac had everything you need - excellent Boulangerie called Blondys - we recommend everything from the bread and cakes to their homemade quiche - friendly owners. The butchers was also excellent and the Carrefour local was large (you could do a weekly shop here - good wine section too) - also 24 hour petrol. The village has a few good cafes plus a greengrocers and a "Proxi" supermarket and a post office. There is an excellent market on Sunday mainly selling fruit, veg, cheese, sausage, duck (you are bombarded by duck products in this area of the dordogne), nougat, wine from local chateaux, hats, baskets.
