La Montagne - Lovely Two Storey Gite with Large Patio in Caunes-Minervois, South of France Reviews

Ik ben hier 2 weken geweest. Het huisje was zeer ruim en was enorm proper bij aankomst. Elke vrijdagavond is er een winetasting, elke zondagavond is er een BBQ. Deze was telkens zeer uitgebreid. De ligging van het domein is zeer goed, het is hier zeer rustig en maar 10 minuten stappen naar het dorp. Elke ochtend brengt Andy verse koffiekoeken en stokbrood op bestelling die je de vorige dag hebt doorgegeven. Op het domein kan je ook genieten van een zwembad dat goed onderhouden is. Ik vond het hier zeer rustgevend en zou dit echt aanraden aan iedereen!

So, I’ve purposely left this a month or so since we were at Caunes Minervois in order to be less in the moment and more objective, yet despite the passage of time, this was one of the most relaxing holidays we have enjoyed in 10 years travelling to the Languedoc.

Why? It started with the welcome we received from Sue and Andy, unassuming hosts that ensure you have everything you need, who also lay on some great social evenings. Then there is the location, the property is on a quiet road that leads up to the Black Mountains and offers stunning views from the pool for the resting or from the walks that line the valley. Caunes itself is busy enough to offer all the things you need – butcher, excellent bakery, a decent bar and a couple of restaurants. In addition, you’re really well situated to strike out and explore – the canal du midi, minerve, carcassonne, les halles in narbonne, beaches etc….

Now I have given this 5 stars but 4.5 is probably where it should be. The property we had was La Montagne, situated at the rear of the property facing the valley sides as they climb, stunning. The property was roomy and comfortable but I am one of those who has to keep an eye on work and the one area that needs attention is the WI-FI. Plus a toaster!

Otherwise absolutely brilliant place to holiday.

I have loved my holidays spent at your Gites with the family and was delighted to be able to bring some friends to stay for a few days cycling. The location is perfect and I’ve cycled all the popular destinations in Europe and have to say the Montagne Noire beats them all. Next time we’ll come for longer so we can also enjoy the pool too.
