Stable Chambre d’Hôte at Kergudon Gîtes

Our Brittany B&B room is called Stable. Our Stable Bed and Breakfast in Brittany is a stone built holiday cottage at Kergudon and it was originally built as a stable to house the bull whilst Kergudon was a farm. 

Dating from 1640, Kergudon contains the oldest building in the village and local area and, over time has been used for all sorts of purposes including a farm.  Kergudon is now a beautiful collection of three gîtes and one chambre d’hôte (B&B), Stable. Bed and breakfast accommodation can vary in Brittany, we have tried to create a cosy and well-appointed B&B room with charm and character.  

Holidays and short breaks in Brittany are wonderful and Kergudon is situated in the heart of the Monts d’Arrée, which is itself within the protected Natural Park d’Armorique and contains the highest point in Brittany.   As a protected area, the park is a wonderful haven for nature with an excellent variety of walks through the woodlands and forests and around the two large lakes, heath and marshland.

The Monts d’Arrée is also an area packed with Breton culture and ancient history.  In the local area you will also find ancient stone monuments, chapels and villages including St Rivoal and the ancient magical forest at Huelgoat. 

We are open throughout the year for B&B holidays in Brittany. Our bed and breakfast rate includes a French breakfast of local croissants, pain au chocolat and bread with French jams, Breton coffee and butter, yoghurts and fruit.  

At Kergudon we provide all bed sheets, pillows and duvets. The king-sized bed is dressed with Egyptian cotton sheets and we also provide cotton towels and a selection of toiletries in the shower room.

Stable is a sweet little detached cottage laid out in a ‘studio style’.  It includes a breakfast table with chairs, two tub chairs for relaxing and reading, a king-sized bed and wardrobe.

Although we offer a B&B rate for our Stable Gîte we also offer this property as a self-catering holiday cottage in Brittany.  While it does not have a fully-equipped kitchen, Stable is equipped with a microwave, kettle and a mini-fridge so that you can keep fresh milk and eggs etc. There is also sufficient cutlery, crockery and glass wear if you decide to eat in with some of the gorgeous local produce or you can benefit from the restaurants nearby.

Stable also has a sun terrace complete with a table and chairs for two and there are two luxury sun loungers with deep soft cushions. We provide towels for the beach and a BBQ at no additional charge.

The views from the Stable cottage are delightful. Sat on the terrace you will have a lovely view over the old cidre orchard now planted with large flower beds, flowering cherries and a fig tree. The old cidre orchard is mostly laid to lawn and is perfect for lounging about on a sunny afternoon or after a lovely walk through the Saint-Cadou forest or around the Lac Du Drennec. 

All our guests at Kergudon can use the communal facilities which include a boot room (to borrow wellingtons for walking in the forest) with washing machine and tumble dryer; a fitness suite (one of the owners is a fully-qualified Personal Trainer so they can put you through your paces when you’re with us or draw up a personal exercise plan); mountain bikes to borrow to explore the area; petanque pitch and large family games room with a pool table, babyfoot and bar.  The games room has a projector so can be used as a cinema and reserved for a family film night.

Families and Group Holidays
As Stable is perfect for a couple it has often been used by large families or groups who have also rented the Priory and/or Granary. We have welcomed several families who have travelled with grandparents who have preferred to use Stable as it has no stairs and provides a ‘quieter’ place to sleep. The Priory and Granary are both large enough for everyone to eat and relax together as a group or family and Stable provides a perfect personal space for when the family has ‘high energy moments’.

A private parking space (off street parking) is just to the front of Stable.
