We had a lovely week long holiday at Gite Alors. The gite is as described. The 6 of us made full use of the entire building and the pool. Exploring the surrounding area by car and on foot was fascinating and so different from our usual holiday pursuits. I highly recommend the National Museum of Prehistory and the open air markets when your not lounging by the pool.
Fantastic little find. Not too far, or close, to the centre of town. Lots of parking and a great pool! We loved the greenspace it provided without being public. Thanks so much Gite Alors!
It’s very unusual to find holiday homes in the Dordogne with a large pool just a short stroll from the cafes, restaurants, bakeries, shops, and market in the village centre
We have just returned from staying for 2 weeks at Chez Vezere and cannot praise it enough.
We have stayed at a lot of holiday rentals, and believe me, this one is very well equipped, especially if you enjoy cooking the odd meal yourself, rather than eating out every night. We did get to enjoy the pool on the odd hot day during our stay, and it’s a lovely pool for cooling off! It’s also central to lots of interesting places to visit and within walking distance to restaurants, artisan shops etc.
We hope to return.
To be honest I am loathe to give such a glowing review as the gite may become too popular and we may not be able to book again
Karen & Rob the owners were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble, they were always at the end of the phone if needed. The gite was clean and nicely furnished and well stocked with the basics such as tea/coffee, cleaning products and loo rolls. It was in a great position on the edge of the village which has an abundance of shops and restaurants. There is a wonderful swimming pool in a secure fenced off garden area with tables and chairs and plenty of sun loungers. Les Eyzies is a great destination from which to visit the many towns and villages of the Dordogne. We have stayed in many self catering properties and can safely say this is the best yet.

We have just returned from staying for 2 weeks at La Maison à Côté and cannot praise it enough.

We did get to enjoy the pool on the odd hot day during our stay, and it’s a lovely pool for cooling off! Rob and Karen went out of their way to accommodate our little dog, even buying a garden spike so we could attach her to a lead without the fear of her running off. It’s also central to lots of interesting places to visit and within walking distance to restaurants, artisan shops etc.
