House and Family Cottage with Private Swimming Pool in Douzains, Lot-et-Garonne - The Farmhouse AND Le Chai

Welcome to Fon du Bourg - our collection of three luxuriously appointed gites nestling in the heart of the beautiful and tranquil French countryside. Our three homes all offer a different experience for guests.
Fon du Bourg is set in the beautiful Lot et Garonne countryside, ideally located to explore the Bastides with at least six of the iconic towns within a 20 kilometre radius.

The complex offers you an oasis of calm where you can relax and unwind; whether that means simply lying by your swimming pool, playing badminton with your children or taking in the local sites on a day out in the fabulous countryside of Lot et Garonne and nearby Dordogne.

The properties can be rented separately but if you have a larger party the Farmhouse and Chai can be connected via a walkway - you can be together whilst retaining that sense of privacy.

The main pool can only be described as a beautiful 6m x 13m swimming pool. Large enough to have private areas, the south facing sun deck enjoys magnificent views over the valley and with a pool house equipped with fridge and loo - you can lose yourself in relaxation for the whole day.

Local Area:

The lovely old town of Bergerac is only twenty five kilometres away.  We have horse riding, canoeing, wonderful walks all within a few minutes drive.  Of course, further afield there's the Dordogne valley to explore from St Cyprien to La Roque Gageac and then up to Sarlat.

And then there are the markets (and the Gourmand Nocturne), the wine, the food... too much to talk about here!

THE FARMHOUSE: Sleeps: 8 (4 Bedrooms)

Our Farmhouse was originally just that - before Fon du Bourg was renovated and turned into a gites complex it's where the local farmer and his family lived. Indeed many of the family still live in the village.

The Farmhouse is now a luxury gite, ideal for families or a group of friends.  With four bedrooms and eight beds (we can accommodate four more people on sofa beds - but that's with prior agreement and we charge a little extra for each additional person) the Farmhouse is a versatile home from home.

Downstairs there's a wonderful, light filled open plan lounge diner. 

Think traditional farmhouse with stone walls, beams, original features and a wood burner.

There's a dining table for eight, three sofas, DVD player, television with Freesat and Cahors for French TV.  The raised terrace also has a large dining table and an area with more relaxed seating for those evening aperitifs!

The lounge leads into the fully equipped kitchen with a range style cooker and everything you need to cater for a larger party.  Off the kitchen there's a loo and an en suite double bedroom - again with stone walls and period features.

Upstairs with it's exposed beams there are three further bedrooms - a double and two twin rooms. There's a family bathroom, too.

There's also another seating area with a TV and DVD player, games and seating. Perhaps a getaway for the children while Mum and Dad relax downstairs?

There's a 13m x 6m swimming pool which is reached up a short path. The views are fabulous and the sun terrace is south facing and sun drenched all day.  There's a pool house with dining table, toilet and fridge. Once you're installed at the pool there's just no need to move! 

The Pool Terrace has private sunbathing areas as well as a lawn - there's plenty of space to be as private as you want to be.

The Farmhouse is a wonderful package for family and friends.

Our Farmhouse is a wonderful family home from home.  With its sun terrace for aperitifs and al fresco dining to the fabulous pool and sunsets you can't help but relax with your family around you.  We've tried to capture the essence of the Farmhouse with our photos but they just don't do it justice!

LE CHAI: Sleeps: 6 (3 Bedrooms);

Le Chai - the Cottage - was once the farm worker's home. It's fabulously quirky and fun...
The Chai is a delightful family home which can be configured to meet your needs.

Not only was it the farm workers cottage it's where the farmer dried his plums to make prunes. We know this because when the Chai was renovated the remains of the stone and brick built prune drying ovens were found. 
And we're delighted that the guy who was converting the Chai decided to keep the ovens and make them into a feature; when you arrive you'll find one in the dining room and one in the lounge.

Up the steps to your personal, secluded terrasse where you'll find comfortable chairs for relaxing and a dining table for al fresco eating. You also have a lawn area where you can simply relax or perhaps set up the badminton net if you feel like being a bit more energetic.

Off the terrase you'll find the fully fitted kitchen with all mod cons - including the range style cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher. Carry on through to the dining room and then to the lounge which can also be reached through french doors directly from the terrasse.

The lounge is a lovely wide open space with three sofas, stone walls, wifi and television with Freesat and Cahors French TV receiver. There are also DVDs and games. Just to make the lounge absolutely perfect there's a romantic log burner, too.

Off the lounge you'll find a hallway with three bedrooms - the master being en suite.  There's also a smart family bathroom. The bedrooms all have stone walls and many original features are left over from when the Chai was built.
