This comfortable property is situated in a quiet hamlet but within easy access of the cosmopolitan village of Esperaza. It is well equipped and has lovely views from the private terrace across the valley, a great place to return to after a day exploring the area, to just sit and chill out.

This is a very lovely little gite, perfect for a couple, or 2, but I wouldn't recommend it for young children. My 10 & 8 year old were fine, but it was difficult with a 2 year old as the stairs are very steep and both windows upstairs he could clamber out of given half the chance! But this is not the fault of the owners, it just wasn't ideal for us. The house is on the whole well equipped, but could do with a decent knife or 2 for cooking. There was just one small, blunt knife and it didn't take too kindly to having to chop veg or cut pizza unfortunately. There was meant to be a selection of dvds for the kids to watch if need be but none at all, it would have come in handy for entertainment during times when I was cooking as there's no Internet. But, we made the most of it, and Debbie who looks after the gites was very accommodating and put right everything which was in her power to do so. She let me use the washing machine in the vacant gite too, as ours wasn't working.
We did have a nice stay despite these wee hiccups. And you can't really complain for the price either, it was very reasonable!

A delightful little hamlet in a most beautiful landscape. Not for those who require endless amenities and seek out lively night life scenes, but for those like us who wish to get away from it all and sit quietly in a charming environment enjoying a glass of wine as the sun goes down ...Just perfect.

We were a party of five adults and two infants so we stayed at the largest of the four properties in Les bernots. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and we had a most comfortable stay. There were a couple of problems with appliances and we had troubles with the cooker and washing machine but the very helpful and wonderfully welcoming Debbie, who looks after the property, found solutions and fixed things for us. We love this area of France and this was our second time at the properties. The setting is as pretty and perfect as we remembered, just right for a relaxing break catching up with friends. It is remote enough to feel away from it all but close enough to lots of activity and great places to explore. Thank you for sharing it.

I would recommend the property for stays in and around Carcassonne. We were given a lovely smiley and helpful welcome. The apartment was nice and clean and it provided all the basic requirements. Bed slightly hard and only one thin pillow but that wasn't a problem for a couple of nights.

The Gite was OK with good facilities but with screaming children and barking dogs as neighbours I am sorry to say that it was not what we would have expected.Too remote with no bars/ cafes to walk to. You rely on the car all the time.
