All you can dream of
We spent a long weekend at Domaine Les Jasses with 25 friends and relatives for an epic birthday celebration. This place is beautiful and so accommodating. The chateau was like one of the guests with its large rooms, old world charm and beautiful location. And the swimming pool was beautiful too. Great mountain views, well situated near Limoux, Carcassone, and the magical region in the south of France. Everyone was just taken by the charm and beauty of this place.
The owner Anthony Murphy was generous and welcoming. He was truly thrilled that we were able to enjoy his place, and was more than eager to share his artist's space and his gorgeous paintings as well. We hired Rachel to come and clean up after us each morning and she delightful as well. Then there was Elyse, who was happy to share vegetables from her garden and kept an eye on things.
What a grand place to experience.

A lovely séjour in the nature
Dépaysement garanti, merci Sophie and Anthony !

Someplace magical
I was looking for the perfect place anywhere in France to create memories with my nearest and dearest and I found someplace magical. I read about Domaine des Jasses and Antony Murphy, the owner ,and I was sold. The beautiful views of the Pyrenees, the classic but warm rooms of the house decorated with the owners art, the outside gardens and terrace seemed like this would be perfect.
It exceeded my expectations. I arrived with my 13 yo niece and was given a very generous and warm welcome. The owners are charming and genuine people. Over the next 4 weeks I was joined by numerous friends who were overwhelmingly touched by the experience.
The grandeur of the Chateau is breathtaking. The dinners on the terrace with the Languedoc wines, local produce, meats, cheeses and breads were crowned by beautiful sunsets. The brilliant clear star filled sky left us wanting more every night. The refreshing pool was the activity when everyone wanted to go no where. The property has horses roaming the countryside which adds another touch of charm. I felt like I was living in a movie.
Day trips to Mirepoix (awesome market on Mondays), Albi (Toulouse Museum and incredible Cathedral), Narbonne (another incredible cathedral and abby), Foix, Mt Segur, and the closeness to Carcassonne, for lunches and dinners out, made the location stellar. I arranged with Vin e Vacances, a local tour company, each week to take that weeks group for a full day tour of different regions which always involved wine tasting ;-). The Domaine is a gem in the heart of the Languedoc and intertwined with amazing history. This region is steeped in the history of the development of France; it has its' own rich and wonderful food and wine culture; its' people are very accepting of our lack of ability to speak the language and there is a large contingent of expatriates. They live there because the region has an average of 300 days of sunshine a year! 28 out of the thirty days we spent there were gorgeous.
A car is a must as the chateau is very remote. However, the small town of Montreal is a 10 minute car ride. There is a bakery, butcher shop, a grocery store and 2 gas stations. All one would need. This is a fabulous area for cyclists.

Magnifique!
My husband and I were fortunate enough to be the guests of our amazing hostess Melissa as part of our European summer moon. It truly is a special experience that I don't think words can describe but I will try. The outdoor garden and dining tables are perfect for gathering at the end of the day and sharing your tales from the day and your local finds of cheese + wine. The Chateau itself envelopes you with warmth and a feeling of a bygone era. The views and sunset were absolutely amazing. The location was great for exploring nearby or farther away and then return back to relax. I would love to share this place with everyone I know and love or keep it to ourselves, haven't quite decided. I do know I will do my best to return to the amazing place again.
