Welcome to La Charrière, a former farm in a beautiful rural setting which has now converted into a holiday getaway. We offer self-catering accommodation for groups of all sizes, consisting of 2 gites, both of which have been modified for disabled access. La Baie sleeps up to 8, and Le Chène can accommodate as many as 10. All guests have free access to use our large, outdoor pool and many other sports and games facilities.

In the large kitchen / dining area you with find a table and seating for up to 14 people.
With large doors that open up onto the patio area in the spacious lounge you will find comfortable sofas, a log fire, satellite TV and DVD player. Table and chairs and a gas BBQ can be found on the private patio area outside. For the little ones and available on request at no extra cost are a cot, highchair, buggy and car seat.
Our guests can enjoy glorious sunshine by the pool during the day, and in the evening can enjoy a BBQ whilst watching the sunset over the fields from the rear of the property. There is plenty of parking space on site. There are a number of facilities on site that our guests are welcome to use during their stay including bicycles (for all sizes!), badminton/basket ball court, table tennis and pool table. Guests have use of the shared on-site swimming pool which is open for use from May to September.
The Gite is situated in the peaceful countryside with small villages and towns dotted around the surrounding area. Ideal for cycling on quiet country roads. You will get to experience life at a much more relaxed and slower pace in this tranquil area of France. There is still alot to do if you want to keep busy during your stay, Argenton Les Vallees is the nearest town (5 mins drive) and has all basic necessities, Bressuire is a 15 minute drive and offers a more than adequate selection of supermarkets and restaurants. there is a selection of local vineyards, and visits and wine tasting can be arranged if requested.

Rochmenier - The cave homes in the old Trogolodyte village are definately worth a visit and can be reached in 30 min drive. Several of the houses are preserved as a museum - fascinating for all ages.
Doue La Fontaine - Boasting a fantastic and family friendly zoo this pretty little town is also just 1/2 hrs drive away with a selection of great creperies in the square and beautiful rose garden on the outskirts of the town.
The Puy du Fou is the largest 'theme park' in France and is just 45mins away. You can see more on their website www.puydufou.com - book for the day and their amazing evening spectacle.

The gites are both full of books, games, music and films, so even rainy days can be full of fun activities. Perhaps, complete one of the impossible jigsaw puzzles during your stay, or plan a murder mystery dinner for your group one evening!
In summer, you can try your hand at painting or drawing a view across one of the fields, and in winter you can curl up in front of the fire and read a new book, or perhaps an old favourite. We have a DVD library with over 100 films which guests can request and borrow at no extra charge, and there’s free wi-fi.
Local Attractions
Argenton Les Vallées is the nearest town (5 mins drive) and has all basic necessities including bakery, bank, small supermarket, and a small market every Thursday.
Bressuire is a 15 minute drive and offers a more than adequate selection of supermarkets, restaurants, a town centre market every Tuesday and some wonderful patisseries! There is a ruined chateau here and there is no charge to walk around the ruins. Nearby, a childrens’ play park and picnic area make this a good spot for a family outing.
Local vineyards offer wine tasting all year round – we are happy to recommend the best places for a ‘degustation.’ Try one or two different wines, and buy bottles direct from the producer.
Horse riding is available locally for very reasonable day rates. The local equestrian centre will take beginners for lessons, as well as offering riding days for the more competent.
Go-karting at the International Karting Circuit (10 mins drive away) is available seasonally, and is very popular.
Canoeing – with three rivers converging at Argenton Les Vallees, this is a great spot for an afternoon on the water.
Golf – There is a new 18 hole golf course at Bressuire.

Prices are inclusive of all linen and on-site facilities - there are no hidden or extra costs. We do not charge a security deposit, but will request a 20% booking deposit with the balance of payment a month in advance of your arrival.
