  • Half an hour from the Mediterranean's lively capital of Montpellier

  • Nature reserves and natural parks

  • Two dozen excellent restaurants within a short walk of your front door

  • In the heart of Europe's largest wine region

VILLA CHARLES - You won't find the Villa Charles in the bustling centre of the village - this very special house is hidden from prying eyes and tucked away from view.

A 15-20 minute walk to the Marine Bar and market place of the village and a bit more to the port. 15 minute walk (or just 5 mins in the car to the Carrefour supermarket on the edge of Marseillan.

Yet just a minute's stroll from the house is the farm stall, with its legendary summer fruits - peaches, melons and watermelons, plump tomatoes and plump onions shallots and garlic from local growers. Cheesemakers, olive oil producers and other artisans stock their wares here too - so fresh lunches by your own private pool are very well catered for.
Down a secluded track behind this wonderful fruit and salad stand on the road between the village and the beaches, discover this stylishly designed 10 year old 4 bedroom 2 bathroom swimming pool villa.

Recently furnished to the very higest spec, this is a house designed for grown ups looking to escape the crowds, hustle and hassle of everyday life.

Securely gated, with plenty of parking space for three cars, the L-shaped villa itself wraps around a wooden suntrap deck patio. Sliding doors open up from the master bedroom, the living room and the kitchen.

At the heart of this charmingly laid out terrace, with its six sunbeds, two reclining deckchairs a corner sofa and dining suite, is the private heated pool - 7m x 3m for a summer swim  before sipping the chilled rosé  you picked up from a local vineyard or a Marseillanais cocktail
And when the summer sun is just too bright, reflecting off the whitewashed walls of the single storey villa, pull up a lounger in the shade of a sailcloth awning and watch the dappled shadows on the water.

Or step inside to enjoy your apero at the kitchen bar, with some olives, charcuterie or other nibbles from the fridge.

Inside the villa has four bedrooms, each air conditioned. The en-suits master bedroom also has a dressing room, direct access to the terrace and a king sized bed. Another king size bedroom and two further double rooms each open out to the second astroturfed garden area, perfect for a moment outdoors away from the rest of the party. Guests benefit from a proper bathroom with a real bathtub and modern shower room

The open plan kitchen/ lounge is 51sq meters. and has has two huge 4 seater sofas nd one 3-seater.

Since there are so many local vineyards to explore, wine festivals in summer and autumn, and the legendary Noilly Prat distillery in the port, the house is very well equipped with a range of wine and champagne and aperitif glasses. There is also a full selection of crockery, proper chefs' knives and cooking utensils. Perfect for creating your own memorable meals with your haul of the finest produce from Tuesday's market in Marseillan and the freshest fish and seafood from the village fishermen.

Electric shutters in all rooms, all the appliances you could need in the ideal holiday home, and you may dry your laundry in that second garden area, away from the main pool terrace and courtyard.

There are just a handful of neighbouring homes, shielded by fences and an olive tree.
