The Fisherman’s Cottage (Le Chaumiere des Pecheurs) Sleeps 6.
The Fisherman’s Cottage, largest of our three cottages on site, has a beautiful ancient vine decorating the stone frontage and three bedrooms; two doubles and one twin plus a fully equipped bathroom, kitchen and living/dining area.
Ground Floor:
With double doors out onto the pretty main courtyard, the living/dining room has a table, chairs and comfortable seating area with 2 sofas, plus a flat screen TV for watching dvd’s, a USB music tower system and free WIFI. The adjoining open plan kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washing machine plus all the cups, glasses, pans, cutlery etc needed for a group of six people. The ground floor is completed by a double bedroom with its own private double doors also leading onto the courtyard.
First Floor:
The main bedroom with oak beams and a countryside view from the window has a comfortable double-bed while the twin bedroom also with traditional oak beams, has a view across the millpond and orchard at the rear. The fitted bathroom has a bath/shower, toilet and washbasin.
Large Heated Pool & Spa:
Our sparkling heated swimming pool is simply fabulous. Measuring a huge 12 x 6 metres it is usually open from late-April to early-October for the complete enjoyment of everyone - you and your partner, your friends or family.
The Moulin pool is securely alarmed and has three wide non-slip Roman steps – perfect for any younger children or for just sitting with a book when it’s hot - plus a terraced surround with plenty of sun-loungers, deck-chairs, and parasols.
If it’s a bit too cool for the pool, or you just enjoy star-gazing into the amazingly clear night skies, we also have a six-person hot-tub/spa in a terraced corner of the main courtyard. At 38 degrees, the hot-jets and bubbles provide wonderful relaxation at any time of year. Children are welcome but must be supervised.
Carp Fishing in France at the Moulin Lake
Our glorious private 2.5 acres Moulin Lake contains some 60 immaculate carp (mirror & common 15-45lbs) – all offering a great challenge.
Only 35 metres from the courtyard cottages, there’s flat, easy-access all around the lake. With 5 decked swims, as well as other good spots and an accessible island, there’s a range of different open water areas to fish into.
Carp fishing in France on your doorstep has rarely been so appealing!
There are now 24 weeks when the Moulin Lake CAN be booked exclusively for 2-4 fishermen inclusive for 1,160 euros during April/May and September/October and 1,360 euros from late-May to early July - but exclusive Lake use is ONLY possible by renting the Fisherman’s Cottage or indeed, the whole complex with all 3 cottages. Carp fishing on the Lake from mid-July to early September high season period is shared.
Set in 15 acres of lush meadows and woodland, the Moulin Lake is stream-fed with fresh water, while an overflow ensures good circulation and oxygenation all year. It is also fed by a natural spring beneath the waters, so it never dries out, even during hot summers.
The lake is lined by a wide variety of mature trees and wild flowers, while abundant wildlife, including kingfishers, woodpeckers and red squirrels, simply add to the delightful carp fishing environment.
There are three decked swims on the nearest bank. Two overlook the deeper area of the lake – around 5 feet – and the third is between some large willows, near the feature island in the centre – another popular fishing spot.
The two remaining swims are on the opposite side of the lake which tapers to around three feet deep at the shallower silty-bottomed top end where the stream water constantly enters the lake.
Carp fishing for up to four anglers is comfortable if everyone is respectful – we’ve had some cracking competition and banter, but no arguments yet! There are no outside ‘day tickets’. Only those booked into the cottage can fish..
The lake is carefully supplemented most years by adding a selection of quality mirrors and commons from arguably France’s top carp supplier.
