La Julerie is a 4 gîtes complex, hidden in the Breton countryside, located just 20 minutes from the nearest coast and beaches. Thanks to our swimming pool and our large gardens, La Julerie is an ideal place for a family holiday. We can accommodate up to 25 people with all four of our houses, which also makes us a perfect choice for wedding parties, birthdays or family reunions!
If your idea of a perfect holiday is one where you can immerse yourself in local culture, visit historic towns, enjoy fantastic scenery, days at the beach, playing golf and much more, then look no forther. Come to La Julerie and enjoy a spectacular holiday in Le Côte D’Armor.
Les Ecuries has been designed with wider doors to welcome wheelchair users. Despite the fact that there isn't a bedroom on the ground floor, whenever we have guests who cannot manage the stairs we place a single bed behind a screen at the rear of the salon area.
However, if there is a couple who cannot climb the stairs, the sofa in the salon does convert into a double bed. There is a gentle slope to the wide front door allowing wheelchair access and the shower room on the ground floor also has wide doors there is plenty of space for the wheelchair and the toilet is also designed for disabled users.
The rest of Les Ecuries comprises:
Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, one a double and the other with twin beds; on the wide landing there is a sofa bed which we describe as ideal for 1 adult, but equally good for 2 children. If guests have an infant, we can either place a cot in the double bedroom, or if the infant is older, we would place it at the far end of the landing.
This gite has a smaller lawned area in the front, and to the rear there is a patio which is accessed through double French doors, beyond the patio there is another lawned area for this gite, and beyond that, the large grassed area is shared by guests from all of gites at La Julerie. During the summer the wooden garden furniture and the barrel barbecue are placed on the rear patio which normally enjoys sunshine at breakfast time, shade at lunch and again sunshine later in the day.
In the communal garden area there is a climbing frame with swings, slide and fireman's pole etc for the children, and elsewhere there is a playhouse and sandpit for the younger children.
The gite is very well equipped for those travelling with young children and infants as we have practically everything you might need on holiday which means you don’t need bring items from home; in addition to cots, high chairs and stair barriers we also have a baby changing table, baby bath, bottle sterilising unit, swing chair and baby chair and a listening device etc. If necessary, all kitchen cupboards and upstairs windows have locks which are reversible and only need be engaged when infants are in the property.
Surrounding Area
Our local town of Corseul has a small supermarket, 2 bakeries, a restaurant and a pizzeria and some bars.
La Julerie is only 18km (about 20 min drive) from the coast which offers a large number of safe sandy beaches, which is what all children adore; several beaches offer sailing, and all types of surfing schools –wind, kite and sand yachts; just what the teenagers and more adventurous adults enjoy. There are many offshore islands well worth a visit at low tide, for the whole family to enjoy. We know from experience that the young children really enjoy looking in the ponds as the tide recedes for little fish and shrimps and crabs, and also collecting some of the lovely shells to be found in the sand- quite often we just reach the island and find it is time to return ahead of a rising tide- but always with really happy children!
La Julerie is only 10km from the historic town of Dinan where you can see many medieval buildings, or enjoy their weekly market or wander down a cobbled street to the port and enjoy lunch alongside the river.
The world famous Mont St Michel is less than an hour’s drive from La Julerie as is the capital of Brittany- Rennes where you will find museums featuring the history of this ancient part of France. St Malo and Dinard face each other across the estuary of the River Rance; St Malo is a busy port and a centre for yachting but also a hive of activity as a popular tourist centre, whilst its neighbour across the river hosts the annual British Film Festival each September. Dinard also boasts beach tents for changing in.
La Julerie provides an ideal centre for all visitors, whether they have come to Brittany to enjoy the wonderful beaches, or to go sight seeing in any of the historic towns including Dinan and St Malo. If you are more active, there are golf courses in the area. Those who enjoy walking can select some of the numerous well signposted, river, country and coastal walks or visits to neighbouring islands.
If your choice of leisure activity is on the water and you want to learn new skills or improve existing ones, why not enrol for classes with one of the local sailing or windsurfing schools. If you prefer horse riding, then you can enjoy this activity at one of the local equestrian centres.
There are numerous restaurants in the area, some specialising in sea food for which the area is famous, others will offer a full range of traditional French cuisine, and of course there are Le Creperies serving an enormous range of crepes and galettes- a Breton speciality.
Several guests have had their wedding banquets or family parties (for up to 40 guests) in the games room, and have used local outside caterers (les Traiteurs) to take care of all of the food and drink. We have the names of some to whom we can recommend. To be able to use the games room for any such facility, guests do need rent all of the Gites otherwise you would be stopping others using it and the pool. The pool is 9 x 4 mts with Roman steps at one end a a level bottom at 1.65 mts which makes it ideal for parents with young children as the parents can stand anywhere in the pool to look after their children.
Whilst only Saturday to Saturday bookings are accepted during High season, at all other times of the year arrival and departure days are flexible and short term term bookings are welcome.
