Charming 17th Century Property with Stunning Views in the Perigord Blanc, Dordogne

Charming cottage in the heart of the Périgord blanc (independent accommodation, can accommodate from 4-6 people)

The art Nouveau entrance to the 17th century mill is via the original mill stones and cobbles and leads you into what originally housed the mechanics of a working water mill.

In the heart of the Dordogne, in the Périgord Blanc, between Bergerac and Périgueux (30min) and 1 hour from Bordeaux, Sylph Baier is delighted to welcome you to his gîte at Moulin de Leymonie du Maupas.

The property is a former 17th century hydraulic mill, renovated among other things as a workshop, a pottery shop and a gîte. It has retained all of its character, while offering visitors a comfortable environment to enjoy a relaxing holiday. Calm and exotic, you can enjoy a romantic getaway in this cottage in the middle of the countryside. The place is perfect for nature lovers. There is no shortage of visits to the local cultural heritage around the Mill.

The cottage has two separate bedrooms with comfortable double beds on the upper floor, each with a shower and toilet.

On the ground floor is a large living / dining room and open kitchen, furnished with an eclectic mix of vintage and designer furniture, and quality contemporary craftsmanship.
The kitchen is fully equipped and you have your own entrance, allowing you to come and go as you please.

Additional Information:
The mill stairs to the bedrooms on the first floor are steep and not suitable for people with walking difficulties, toddlers and toddlers. We also have uneven flagstones at the entrance to the property which date from the 17th century and access to all parts of the property is at the visitors' own risk.

Our animals and wildlife. We have sheep, chickens, a dog and a cat. As we are in the middle of the countryside we also have a wide range of small wildlife visitors including birds, lizards, insects, small mammals, frogs and salamanders near the river. We hope you are happy to share our Mill with these creatures.

We follow the principles of permaculture and try to live sustainably by conserving water and electricity, growing our own food and recycling as much as possible. We ask you to support us in this endeavor.

Please note. The original millers stairs are steep and only suitable for the fit and able and are not suitable for people with walking difficulties and small children.

Outside Amenities:  Communal courtyard and gardens by the mill stream, with garden furniture, loungers, barbecue and dining areas.

Surrounding Area:  Intimate valley, bird sanctuary, suitable for nature and animal lovers, woodland walks and cycle routes, kayaking nearby as well as pilgrims trail.

We have sheep in the paddocks and practice organic gardening and permakultur. This is a place for recharging, as well as creating and contemplating.

One hours train journey from nearby 24400 Mussidan to Bordeaux and then from there two hours to Paris.

Bergerac and Périgueux are within a 30 minutes drive. This is an area of outstanding historical richness, from Lascaux 4 to many castles and sights and the mill is within easy reach of all attractions but still in a tranquil area away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist routes. 
All the wine regions, forests and lakes are within easy reach and we have many great restaurants within a 10 minute drive.
