WINTER SPORTS:

Vaujany is part of the extraordinary ski region Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine. Skichalet Solneige is located in a little hamlet just outside Vaujany. The slopes of Vaujany and Alpe d’Huez offer perfectly varied skiing: relaxed runs for the beginners and some challenging tracks for the more advanced skiers.

Why not treat yourself to a fabulous skiing holiday in stunning surroundings where snow is guaranteed and where you will find slopes with some of the world’s highest vertical drops. Unspoilt and far from the crowds!

Alpe’d’Huez is one of the top ski venues in France. More than 250 kilometres of trails and 87 lifts cater to every ability level. One of Europe’s largest gondolas (160 people) takes you up from Vaujany to 2050 metres in six minutes. Add another 4 minutes and you will find yourself at 2800 metres in the middle of the immense skiing area of Alpe d’Huez. You can reach the same point by cable car.

For non alpine skiers or just for a change, you can try cross country skiing or snow-shoeing.

For the expert skiers the downhill trail from the Sarenne is a real challenge (with a length of 17 kilometres the longest black run in Europe, from 3330 metres to 1100 metres). Apart from that, the Pic Blanc offers you the breathtaking descent by the piste "the tunnel", one of the most challenging runs in the Alpes.

There are also ample opportunities for off-piste skiing. 860 snow cannon make sure that there is always enough snow; you can ski on the higher slopes till the end of April.

Alpe d’Huez is also a wonderful ski region for families with small children. The picturesque village of Vaujany deservedly got the Golden Ski Award for the world’s best small family resort of the year.

Vaujany is ideally suited for people who like to combine a large and varied skiing area with the peace and quiet of a small skiing village.

If you don’t ski or if you want to do something different for a day, the Espace Loisirs in Vaujany is a pleasant alternative. It has an indoor swimming pool, a hammam, a Jacuzzi and a gym.

The new ice rink is a real beauty, and there's bowling too.

SUMMER SPORTS:

The Alpe d’Huez is one of the great climbs of the Alps, but there are other famous climbs such as the Galibier, Croix de Fer, Glandon and Lautaret. Chalet Solneige is the perfect base (cycling hotel) to discover these passroads. The area also caters for mountain biking with many marked tracks. Or would you like to try the Megavalanche?
