Carlux Holiday Gite Rental with Shared Heated Pool in Stunning Location, Dordogne, France
Eglantine is a spacious and extremely comfortable Dordogne holiday home situated on a small complex of 12 privately owned cottages. With magnificent views of the medieval village of Carlux, the cottage has access to a shared heated pool and boasts a dual aspect dining terrace with bbq and sun terrace. The complex also offers 3 children’s playgrounds, badminton court, table tennis, table football and a boules court. Set in an area of outstanding beauty, the house achieves the impossible by offering its guest a peaceful rural retreat amongst one of the busiest tourist areas in France. Sleeping up to 6 guests, there is a spacious double bedroom on the ground floor with French doors that lead onto the terrace. The first floor offers a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. There is a travel cot and high chair. There are two shower rooms with hand basins and toilets on the ground floor. The living/dining area opens onto the terrace and includes an open fire, lounge seating and dining for 6. The well equipped corner kitchen includes a 4 burner hob, microwave, refrigerator and freezer and dishwasher Outside you can enjoy the dining terrace seating 6 and the sun terrace which has sunbeds.
On site there is a shared heated pool and 3 children’s playgrounds, badminton court, table tennis, table football and a boules court all available on the complex.
The village of Carlux is a pleasant walk from the gite by road or through a woodland path. Dominated by the ruins of a 13th century chateau which is lit up in the evening the village holds fetes and concerts throughout the summer months. We highly recommend the local bar/restaurant with its delicious menu offering locally produced products and the best fish and chips in the region. The Hostellerie de Bequignolle is an excellent gourmet restaurant and is located just a 5 minute walk from the cottage, renowned in the area for its excellent cuisine. Please note you will need to book in advance. The nearby town of Sarlat is just a 15 minutes’ drive away. This wonderful medieval town has a selection of exciting shops and restaurants, the twice weekly market happens on Wednesdays and Saturdays. At a similar distance, larger supermarkets, banks, ATMs and a fantastic Friday morning market can be found in Souillac. A cycle and walking path along with kayaking & canoeing can be enjoyed just 2km from the property along the Dordogne River. There are also several river beaches which are ideal for picnics and swimming all along the river. The closest is beside the bridge at Rouffillac where you will also find the riverside cafe. For water sports the swimming lake at Grolejac is a 15 minute drive away.

Local Attractions
Activities in the local area are aimed at those who love the outdoors; the GR6 national footpath runs through Carlux and is used by walkers and hikers. The old railway track has been turned into a fantastic 20km traffic free cycle and walking track running beside the Dordogne River from Sarlat to Soulliac. Fishing, kayaking and canoeing are also all very popular on the river with quad biking and even an aerial park situated just outside Sarlat. The country club at Soulliac offers tennis courts and an 18 hole golf course. There are a number of theme parks in the area to entertain the children along with horse riding for all ages and abilities which can be enjoyed at either the Pony club in Souillac or in Vitrac. If you fancy a day hot air ballooning this is available at Montgofier. A number of parks and gardens open daily to the public, some of which stay open into the evening so you can enjoy the sunset. Please note that brochures for events and places to visit in the area are available at both the house and at the local tourist office in Rouffilac.
Special Rental Conditions
A 25% non refundable deposit payable by cheque or bank transfer is required to reserve a booking, the balance to be paid 8 weeks before the arrival date. Late bookings should be paid in full. A damage security cheque of £100 is required and this will be refunded after departure by post or BACS. Prices include linen, gas, electricity, water and tax de sejour. The Gite must be left cleaned for the next guests or a cleaner arranged in advance. We regret that no pets are allowed on the complex.
