We stayed here for a week at the end of July. Comfortable, elegant house with the feel of a family home. Suited all four generations of our family from 83 year-old to 11 month-old. Great pool and grounds. Very well equipped. Housekeeper Janine very helpful. Short drive to shops/restaurants in Cordes Sur Ciel and 10 minute drive or 40 minute walk to excellent restaurant Lou Paidol in Salles. Highly recommend and plan to return

The farmhouse has been beautifully and sympathetically restored by the owner in a simple, rustic style. It is set within generous gardens and benefits from spectacular views. We stayed at the house for two weeks and had an enjoyable time exploring the surrounding area. You will not be disturbed if you stay here, the only sounds you can hear are the occasional bark from the neighbouring farmer's dogs. There is no traffic, or light pollution here, it is so peaceful.
We unfortunately had a few issues with the house, which I feel should be mentioned before any other guests decide to stay. It generally was not very clean, we spent a considerable time cleaning when we arrived so that we would feel comfortable. Also, a lot of the lamps / lighting did not work, one of the bedrooms did not have any light, we had to use a torch. The owner explained there is a bit of a teething issue with management so I am sure this will all be resolved for the next guests.
Overall it really was a very beautiful setting and stunning location but we will not be returning to the house. The owner kindly refunded our cleaning charge however upon check out tried to charge us for the pool hoover's wheel falling off! We did not touch the hoover as per the owner's instructions (despite it taking up half of the pool at times). Part of the wheel was missing which is why it wouldn't stay on and had nothing to do with being tampered with. This left such a bad feeling as we had already had a bad experience with the cleanliness and maintenance and we had taken great care to look after the house and even washed some of the sheets before we left!
We did have a great stay despite the above issues, the location and setting are wonderful. I am very sure the house will be immaculate for the next guests, we were just unlucky I suppose. Also, the owner trying to grab our security deposit didn't leave us with a very nice feeling.

We had a wonderful time at Le Muret and will return. With its magnificent views over sweeping landscapes of valleys and hills in deepest rural France it constantly amazes. It's a wonderfully restored old and capacious farm house set in ample grounds and with countryside around guaranteeing complete peace. It is very comfortable with excellent modern facilities and a super swimming pool. Nearby are small villages and towns with good restaurants and places selling local products. The area is steeped in Cathar history and beautiful historic buildings. All in all it is much much more than a real treat.

Clean , spacious , set in superb grounds .
Exactly what we were hoping for. A perfectly situated and comfortable place for us too relax. Located amongst wonderfully peaceful countryside but within striking distance of gems such as Albi our stay here was just perfect. Go looking for interesting places amongst beautiful countryside or retreat to your comfortable residence.
Definitely will return

The very finest things about Le Muret are the well kept and spacy grounds,
the lovely flower garden around the pool, the interesting trees planted in the
rear meadow, and - incomparably - the long views over undulating hills, woods and fields. All these will entice us to return. We loved the remoteness
too. Our only company were cows, buzzards, swifts, skylarks, redstarts,
shrike, hoopoes, cuckoos, heron, golden orioles, butterflies, and an
occasional visiting cat of great charm. The district is lovely: roads are
empty, woods thick and dappled, villages unspoiled and ancient, the food
fine and the wine good - and all this with barely a tourist in sight. (How
different from the Dordogne and Lot!) Albi, Cordes and Najac are
world-class gems. The little Auberge de l'Occitane at Monesties provided
good honest lunches at 13 Euros.
Our weather in the last week of May was too cool to use the pool. But
warmth improved as the week passed. Initially, thanks to its thick walls,
the house was colder inside than outside. The heating thermostat carried
fearsome notices not to touch it; but luckily Dom's advice, by phone, saved
us from the chill. The house is old, interesting and externally handsome as
well as spacious (we were four adults and didn't use the attic). The two
bathrooms are capacious and efficient (apart from annoyingly falling toilet seats).
The furniture matches the house's simplicity, and all is clean and well
maintained. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped.
All in all, Le Muret is a lovely place. We recommend it wholeheartedly and
hope to be back.

Just returned from a 2 week, 2 family (9 people) stay at Le Muret, and we all had an absolutely wonderful time. The house, pool and gardens are just lovely, and the secluded setting is beautiful and very peaceful. The kitchen is a lot bigger than it appears in the photos, and the games room (table tennis) was a huge hit with both kids and parents! There's a large and varied selection of CD's and a quality music system in the kitchen, and as you can turn the volume up fairly loudly due to the relative isolation, we really enjoyed the 'sounds' round the pool! There's lots to see and do in the area, and Cordes (the closest main town, about a 10 min drive away) is a lovely place to explore. We had lunch 3 times in the Bistrot Cordais - food is fantastic, reasonably priced, and the staff are very friendly. Would also really recommend the longer (45 min) 'train' tour around the town and immediately surrounding area. All in all, a great holiday, and Le Muret really is as gorgeous as it looks in the photos.
