It provides an ideal base for exploring Brittany by car, cycling, walking or just relaxing in peaceful surroundings and nearby there are places to visit to suit all the family from fishing to riding to watersports to the wonderful sandy beaches and the typically French markets.
This self-catering gite sleeps up to 5 guests and is situated in Trévenec, which is a peaceful hamlet set in beautiful countryside close to the National Park of Armorique in central Brittany, yet only 40 minutes drive from some of the best beaches in Brittany. It is only 5 minutes by car from the Valley of the Saints Heritage Site on the outskirts of Carnoet. This European Easter island is unique with around 120 giant granite statues of Breton Saints.

The modern kitchen is fitted with a fridge, combination microwave and grill, gas cooker and hob, toaster and other kitchen equipment. Dining table seats 6 comfortably whilst looking out over the patio and garden.
Living room
Large lounge/dining room with original beamed ceiling, open Breton fireplace and tiled floor. The room is well furnished with comfortable seating, cushions, coffee-tables, dining table and chairs.
Bedrooms
The attractive wooden staircase leads out of the lounge to the first floor, with a twin bedroom on the left and the double bedroom to the right, ideal for 2 couples or those with older children. The third twin bedroom is accessed through the double bedroom.

The bathroom, utility room and separate toilet have modern fittings and a washing machine, iron and board, hairdryer, drying rack and cleaning equipment.
Entertainment
The satellite tv provides over 80 English channels, including BBC, ITV and Channel 4, regional English stations, and digital radio. A second tv/dvd player receiving some French tv channels is available upstairs. There are games, books and magazines, a parasol, windbreak and picnic set.

Trévenec is the perfect location for a romantic hideaway or a family holiday. The property benefits from thermostatically-controlled electric heating for Autumn and Winter and a secluded south facing garden for Spring and Summer. In late 2009 Carnoet won a contest to be the site of the most important heritage programme in Brittany this century, the Valley of the Saints. There are now 60 3 metre high granite statues of Breton saints at the wonderfully atmospheric hill-top site next to the ancient chapel of Saint Gildas. This is a must-see attraction!
Callac - Capital of Argoat
Callac is a typical small French market town about 10-15 minutes away, with a large market square which resounds every Wednesday market day to the chatter of farmers, townspeople, villagers and visitors. Everything is sold from ducklings to duvets and artichokes to anchovies! The town also boasts local shops, including a wonderful shop selling everything from ornamental light fittings to hunting gear, and a really good Intermarché hypermarket plus a Casino supermarket. It also has a very attractive lake and nature reserve, with excellent walking. And, if you want to find the local English community, there is an English café!
Carhaix Plouguer
Carhaix Plouguer is the largest town in the vicinity and is about 15 minutes away. Another lovely French town with old Breton houses lining the streets of the town centre, with a market and a range of shops plus some excellent restaurants. Since it was once a Roman town, nearby are the remains of the Roman aqueduct and the Nantes-Brest Canal offers wonderful walks and bicycle rides. The town has lots of shops, bars, restaurants and street cafés, pharmacies and the local hospital. The Leclerc hypermarket on the edge of the town towards Callac has a very reasonable cafeteria. The town is also the location of the famous Vielles Charrues pop festival every year.

Carnoet is about 5 minutes away on the road up from Callac. It is a typical French village with a post office, small but well-stocked local supermarket and a couple of bars. Will become the village of the Valley of the Saints Heritage Site.
Chateauneuf de Faou
Chateauneuf de Faou is an attractive tourist centre overlooking a lovely river valley south of Carhaix. Has a variety of canoe, swimming and other riverside attractions and is close to one of the major chateaux of the region, the Domaine de Trévarez.
Guérlesquin
Guérlesquin a beautiful petite cité de caractère with a lovely centre and very attractive gardens, best seen on market day (Monday), there is a plan d’eau nearby with a small beach for swimming.
Huelgoat
Huelgoat is a tourist town on the edge of the Armorique Regional Park about 15-20 minutes away. It is renowned for the mysterious giant granite rocks in the river valley known as the Chaos, for the forests with their wonderful walks nearby and for the old silver mines nearby. There is also a lake near the town centre, a delightful market square with cherry trees, and beautiful countryside on all sides! This is also a good place to eat, with one of the oldest crêperies in Brittany.
Lannion
Lannion is another large riverside town with old houses towards the coast in the direction of the Rose Granite Coast and Perros-Guirec about 25 miles away. Another large market on Thursdays.
