AliKats top tips
For glorious wide pistes: Head to Les Haut Forts, the highest point in the Portes du Soleil at 2466m.
For safe off piste: Fornet Bowl in Avoriaz and Happy Valley in Chatel (near Cornebois lift).
For moguls: Ski at your own peril at the infamous Swiss Wall.
For something different: The Stash. A natural park created by Burton with the famous picnic table to drop off.
For a thigh-burning workout: Try the World Cup run in Avoriaz. A full 1100m descent; steep & fast.
When the clouds roll in: Head for the trees as the Star Wars run, aka La Combe à Floret is great fun.
For lunch with a view: the panoramic restaurant at the top of the Mosettes chair straddling Switzerland and France is breath taking.
For an apres beer: Half way down the home run, La Ferme, is a great place to stop in the afternoon sun before the final 400m to the AliKats minibus to take you back to cake and the bubbling hot-tub.
Snow parks:
There are several parks you can access from Morzine.
• Stash: The most famous and only park of its type in France, it has a wide range of wooden rails, boxes, jumps and many more to play with – all built with ecological principles in mind.
• Snowpark de la Chappelle: Accessed by Express Proclou lift in Avoriaz. Known as the ‘Baby Park’ it has jumps ranging from easy greens to pretty advanced blues as well as rails, boxes, A frame and spines which are suitable for beginners to intermediates.
Snowpark Arare: Accessed by Express Lac Intrets lift and Bleue du Lac run. This park means business the red jumps are a big step up from the blues in the Chappelle Park and the rails have a big drop off if you get it wrong. It’s a great place to watch major talent in action.
Trashers snowpark: In the Falaise sector. This is for kids and beginners and has a series of small jumps, slides and obstacles to cut your teeth on not literally we hope.
Superpipe: Opposite the top of the Prodain lift. At 120m long and with 6m high walls this pipe is big – seriously big.
• Bordercross: In the Arare area. Anyone can have a try at this as you can always avoid the bigger jumps if your nerves fail you.
Snowpark Les Crosets: Under the TS Les Crosets 2. This is an advanced park similar to Snowpark-Arare with large jumps and many other features.
Other activities:
