The open plan kitchen/dining room has a wood burning range - perfect for frosty mornings! All modern equipment is provided including gas & electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The large dining table seats 10. There is a laundry and coat room as well as a separate room for ski / snowboard storage. Located 10 minutes from a reasonably priced local ski station, Hirmentaz/Bellevaux, the house is ideal for families/groups of skiers at different levels of ability. For non-skiers there are guided snowshoe walks, sledging or just relaxing by the fire. A bit further afield (35 mins drive to Morzine) is the extensive Portes de Soleil ski area with more than 600kms of runs.
In the summer a wide range of activities are available in the nearby town and villages, and the mountain resorts of Morzine and Chatel. Why not try mountain biking, rafting, Via Ferrata or a visit to a local farm? There are lakeside beaches at Evian (30 mins) and Annecy (60 mins). Both offer swimming, sailing and other water sports. From Evian you can take the boat across the lake to beautiful Swiss resorts such as Montreux and Vevey. Closer to home you could hike directly from the house onto some spectacular mountain paths.
There is a good size garden with a terrace by a small stream, dining table and chairs, barbeque and a spectacular view. The garden and surrounding pastures are full of wild alpine flowers, relatively rare flowers such as gentians and cowslips are common here.
For relaxation there are very good local restaurants and excellent local produce on the door step if you would like to cook for yourselves.
NB we have lots of snow in winter which makes a lovely 'winterwonderland' atmosphere, but it also means you must have a suitably equipped car - 4x4 or snow chains for the winter months.
