Self catering flat to rent in the Landes, Aquitaine, France
There are 2 bedrooms each with a double bed; living room with dining area has a fully equipped kitchenette containing a gas cooker with oven, fridge, plenty of cooking equipment, dishes and saucepans and microwave oven. There is also a shower room with washbasin, toilet and washing machine. Outside there is a patio with table and chairs and a barbecue. There is a big garden with flowers and trees, where children can play safely.
All bed linen is provided; N.B Towels are NOT included – please don’t forget to bring them with you!
Our house is in a rural setting, about 3km from the town of Soustons; 10km from the Atlantic Ocean; 20km from Dax (a famous spa town); 50km north of Bayonne Biarritz and the Pyrenees.
The immediate vicinity is superb for golf (at Soustons, Moliets, Seignosse and Hossegor), bodysurfing and sunbathing on supervised beaches (Hossegor, surfing capital of Europe is only 20km away), windsurfing and sailing on the lake in Soustons (renowned for its nautical centres) and neighbouring lakes, cycling (both road and mountain bikes) through the pine forest or for the more hardy follow the Tour de France route, walking, horse riding, tennis fishing, nature trails at the reserves in Léon and Seignosse and the bird reserve at Orx, with miles of wonderful forest walks.
Between mid June and mid September, the whole area is lively with daily markets, music festivals (jazz, rock folk), many “fêtes” and spectacles, and lots of interesting places to visit and crafts to see.
There are excellent shopping facilities in the town – several supermarkets, banks, a post office. There are medical and dental facilities for emergencies and two chemist’s. Cycles may be hired throughout the year and in high season there are surfing, windsurfing and sailing schools.
AIRPORTS Bordeaux or Biarritz
Please note: There are now relatively cheap flights from Stanstead to Biarritz with Ryan Air. Car rental is available at the airport. Other airports are Bordeaux and a little further Pau and Toulouse. Just ask us.
Ferries to Bilbao and Santander in Spain are a possibility as we are 90 minutes from Bilbao and a couple of hours from Santander
Train station Dax (the nearest), Bayonne & Biarritz (with car on train possibilities). For satnav (GPS) type in "Tastet" as destination.
