Spacious apartment on the first floor of a villa, 350m from sandy beaches. Large living room with tv, dvd player and hi-fi. Equipped open plan kitchen with oven, microwave, 4 electric hotplates. Two double bedrooms, shower room and seperate toilet.

There are several types of beach within an easy acces of the apartment. The flat beaches in and around St. Georges de Didonne and Royan are safe for very small children and are lined with convenient restaurants and shops. Le Grande Cote, a few minutes drive away, with it safe waters, long wide beaches and interesting sinking World War 2 bunkers.These beaches are inside the forested national park and are excellent for picnics! The popular beaches near Talmont are small cliff enclosed bays with safe waters and actvities for children as well as restaurants. The cliffs are lined with stilted shrimping piers and troglodyte caves. Finally, at the end of the penninsula are the broad beaches of the Cote Sauvage. These have a strong surf and are backed by large sand dunes. You can visit the art nouveau light house for expansive views over the penninsula.

For your sight seeing days there are Roman Ruins in the Saintes and St Jean Angley. A other trip is to the Islands Oléron and Ré. La Rochelle provides a full day of activity with its Aquarium, Naval museum and wonderful old town. The near by town of Cognac frequently hosts cultural events such as Jazz festivals. Of course there are the numerous vineyards of the Bordeaux region. One we like is Cote de Blaye with both fantastic wine, sightseeing and activities for children. It is also worth tasting the local 'Pineau de Charente'. For two excellent days out go visit the world class 'Puy de Fou' a mediaeval activity park just two hours drive away or Futuroscope just up the motorway from Saintes.
