A Beautiful B&B in a Perfect Location
I spent 6 wonderful nights at Alain and Byrne’s beautiful B&B near the village of Lalinde in the Dordogne. My room was clean, tastefully decorated and huge, with the largest shower I’ve seen in Europe and a lovely private deck looking out on the woods. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was cool and pleasant despite the summer heat. I definitely made good use of the large, modern pool and deck - perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was continental and delicious, and served in the elaborately decorated, gorgeous main dining/living room. With only four rooms, La Millasserie never felt crowded. But the highlight was Alain and Byrne - every day they had suggestions for sightseeing, helpful directions and guides, and great restaurant suggestions (and they’d make the reservation). I felt at home and I’ll definitely return.

Excellent B & B
We stayed 5 nights with Byrne and Alain in their lovely B and B nestled amongst the trees near Lalinde. We received a very warm welcome. The room was large and beautifully furnished. The bed was king size and comfortable and the bed linen luxurious.
The breakfast offered in the living room is plentiful, varied and delicious and the chat with the hosts and other guests stimulating. The swimming pool was very welcome in the late afternoon after a day out.
The suggested itineraries for the day, with very helpful driving directions, were greatly appreciated as was the help with choosing and booking some of the many excellent restaurants in the area.

5 Stars B & B
We‘ve enjoyed our stay at Le Domaine de La Millasserie very much (a whole week in one of the most beautiful countrysides of France, in - as the French call it - La France profonde): The accomodation is perfect: Spacious and clean rooms, tastefully decorated and furnished (you realise that one of the friendly and attentive hosts has been a specialist in antiques).
The breakfast table in the main house where all the guests gather at nine o‘clock in the morning offers a sumptuous breakfast with the possibility to exchange travel experiences with other nice people from all over the world. French and English are the languages that you can share.
The hosts are great with useful hints and tips for restaurants not far away, Michelin star ones and others. They make the reservations and provide you with accurately precise written descriptions how to go there.
La Millasserie is „in the middle of nowhere“ (well in the middle of a romantic oak forrest) and all the same a perfect place for visiting many places.
Sometimes we‘ve just bought some quiches or similar tarts to eat at home on the cosy private terraces, and enjoying one or more glasses of wine - after a swim in the pleasant swimming pool.
Thank you very much, dear Byrne and Alain for the warm hospitality and the interesting talks we‘ve had

Absolutely beautiful
We spent 9 nights here and wish it could have been longer. First, our hosts, Alain and Byrne, were superb; second, the room was spacious and had its own terrace, which we took full advantage of; and third, its surroundings were very pleasant and its location to town and sights was ideal. If you plan a trip to the area, by all means, stay at La Millasserie--you'll be glad you did.

Welcome Home
We went back to stay with our dear friends Alain and Byrne. When the first thing the owners say is "Welcome Home" you know that once again you are back with your family. We had a lovely stay as ever, complimented by some wonderful weather, and found it difficult drag ourselves from the superbly maintained pool. As ever the French breakfast sets you up for the day, and if you can eat well in the morning, which alas we cannot, it literally sets you up until Dinner/Supper. We had our favourite room, beautifully appointed, and the usual welcome pack awaited us, but with a slight twist. It was wonderful to see that more investment had been made in the grounds and as usual the rooms had been redecorated during the winter months. Nothing is overlooked here, everything is in order in a laid back way which provides relaxation and the opportunity to enjoy your break immediately. La Millasserie is situated in a quiet farmland area but is perfectly located for exploration in the Périgord. Should you require restaurants Byrne can give you up to date recommendations, directions and will book a table for you

All in all, another lovely trip. We will of course be back!

Extraordinary in every possible way
This was the highlight of our 2 week trip in France. Alain was nothing short of extraordinary. Our days started off with incredible breakfasts with every delicacy imaginable. Alain planned our days perfectly and sent us out to places that were largely devoid of crowds. He also made marvelous restaurant reservations for us. My daughter and I were so sad to leave, and I hope very much to return. I felt I had a temporary home in the Dordogne.

Book this NOW!
Had an amazing experience, which was so much more than just Bed and Breakfast. During our stay we enjoyed the the massive room (pretty much the size of many inner London flats!) with a large private terrace, plentiful breakfasts and the proximity to so many of the sites that the Perigord Noir has to offer.

This was all crowned by the incredible hosts, that helped us plan and navigate our itineraries amongst and endless supply of beautiful and authentic French villages and the 1001 chateux that the region is so well known for.

This really is a Bed and Breakfast with the personal touch of a 5 star hotel.

A good rural B and B
Byrne and Alain are excellent hosts with a warm welcome to their lovely, characterful B and B. The rooms are large and spotlessly clean. The breakfasts, fruit, cheese and assorted pastries are delicious. Over breakfast our hosts would discuss our day's plans, with helpful tips on where to go, even providing route maps which they had prepared. They also know the local restaurants and are happy to book for you. We were very happy with their choices and it was lovely to know that on the day we arrived our evening meal was already booked. The swimming pool looked lovely, but unfortunately we didn't have the weather to use it.

Remote, peaceful, but not too gay-friendly guests
The guesthouse quite a distance away from any town activities, restaurants any places of interest. I had wanted a break from all the hustle of daily life, so remoteness suited me well. The guesthouse had relatively good reviews on gay travel sites and these also were confirmed during my first 2 days there. Alain has a passion for the way he treats his guests, made excellent suggestions for activities and dinner and served a delicious breakfast every morning. The room was very spacious, the bathroom well-equipped. The only downside was the lack of a fridge - being that far away from the next town, it would have been nice to store cold drinks for use at the pool during the day.
I unfortunately had to cut my initial stay (9 days) short, because of some very personal and not-so-gay-friendly comments and actions of other guests (mixed-gender couple). Explaining that to the owners did cause a bit of unease, as it was seen as an “overreaction”/over-sensitive response.
Very unfortunate.
