3 spacious luxury accommodations with pool minutes from Carcassonne Reviews

This is our second visit to Domaine de Cure and found it once again -
very welcoming, instantly relaxing, beautifully clean, well located with excellent facilities - a home from home. We look forward to our next stay!

La Forge is one of three adjacent gites at the Domaine de Cure, surrounded by vineyards a 15 minute walk for the small village of Conques sur Orbiel and a 10 minute drive from the beautiful city of Carcassonne. The property is spotlessly clean, well equipped and furnished throughout to a high standard, and is surrounded by pretty, peaceful gardens that include a pleasant pool and stunning views to the distant Pyrenees mountains.

Jean-Noel and Agathe are friendly welcoming hosts, keen to share their knowledge of the area (and its wines), and ever willing to help with local restaurant reservations and the like.

The village has a small shop, bar and good restaurant, all within a comfortable walk, and a well stocked supermarket and patisserie are easily accessed by car on the outskirts of Carcassonne. We enjoyed visits to Carcassonne, local Cather castles, the markets of Narbonne and the mediterranean, walks in the Haute Langedoc park and along the Canal du Midi - all nearby, and were welcomed and helped wherever we went despite our poor French.

We stayed a week - which was fantastically relaxing, but wished we could have stayed two!

To enjoy the surrounding area you really need a car and to be happy driiving around - but most places are within 40 minutes or so. As there only seems to be one restaurant in walking distance you need to be happy eating there a lot (we happily ate there 3 times, bring a torch for the walk back), or with staying at 'home' and cooking. The property has a good kitchen, and we made excellent use of the barbeque and enjoyed dinning outside in the garden.

Well laid, out, meticulously clean gite (1 in a row of 3 in the building) fronting beautiful grounds and overlooking rolling vineyards. Jean Noel and Agatha are terrific hosts, helpful and knowledgeable about the local village of Conques Sur Orbiel, local wines and produce, and the broader surrounding Carcassonne area.
You need a car as Domaine is several kms from Carcassonne, but it is central to the many small, unspolit historic hamlets in the area. It is a short walk to the small general store in Conques, and the surrounding countryside is magnificent for longer walks or drives... highly recommended.
