So, your planning on staying in one of the most beautiful places on the Côte d'Azur, Menton. Let me congratulate you on your brilliance. Well, now you need to make the ultimate decision, where to stay. After much research I decided on this terrific apartment. Now, you can choose to stay in an apartment that is in a modern building with absolutely no personality or you can choose an apartment with all the modern conveniences and loaded with charm and personality, in a superb location, with incredible views, and cool breezes. My wife and I loved this apartment, it was clean, comfortable, close to the beach, gardens, restaurants and it had everything we wanted or needed. The owner, Josy, was a pleasure to work with. She had an amazing amount of knowledge of Menton as well as many other areas of France. She gave us superb, and very usable, information about the area, its history, things to see, restaurants etc. She also helped with other areas of France that we visited. If you are concerned about the apartment not having air conditioning let me say this, although the temperature outside was fairly hot (mid 80's f daytime 70's f at night) the apartment stayed cool (with the widows open). We sleep very well and had no need for air conditioning. Should we get the chance to return to this beautiful city I definitely stay at this apartment again.
Based on the description and pictures of the apartment,we had high expectations-and we were not disappointed. It is charming with unique decorations ad ambience coupled with a modern kitchen and bathroom. The view from the large and comfortable living room is in itself worth the price and even though it is in the old town(another aspect of its charm)it is easy to walk to.We look forward to our next stay.
We spent a week in this lovely apartment in the old part of Menton. The apt itself is immaculate, spacious, with an enormous main living/dining room featuring spectacular frescoed ceilings, two bedrooms with lots of hanging and shelf storage, a very nice fully-equipped kitchen, shower room, and separate WC (like many French bathrooms, the toilet is unfortunately located apart from the shower room, separated from the living room only by a flimsy door.) Large windows with wooden shutters provide gorgeous views, and are double-paned glass which virtually eliminate all street noise below. The property is ideally located for exploring the old town, with its many restaurants and shops, as well as the morning food/flower market. A few minutes' walk away are also the casino promenade, beach, site of the Fete du Citron, etc., and in the other direction, the harbor, and a pleasant 30 minute walk to the Italian frontier.
Unfortunately, we had a couple of glitches with the internet access and TV, but the owner was responsive to our communication about these issues, and attempted to sort out these problems.
Overall, I highly recommend this unique property. It is a lovely space from which to enjoy all that Menton has to offer.
Our family of four had a wonderful vacation in this clean, spacious, beautifully decorated and well appointed apartment. The pictures don't capture the exceptional charm this apartment and the town of Menton have to offer! It certainly exceeded our expectations. We had every amenity we needed and found everything easy to find and easy to use. The location, in the heart of the "Vielle Ville," could not be better! We had magnificent views of the beach, which is just a short walk from the apartment. Grocery stores, restaurants and shops were all within an easy walk and it was fun to wander through the streets and explore all Menton has to offer. Our children were fascinated by the cemetary, which is well worth the walk, and the basilica was beautiful (we even saw a wedding!). As another reviewer commented, we found the locals very friendly. The train station is nearby and many cities along the French Riviera are easily accessible. We ventured to Monaco one day and watched the changing of the guard. Overall our time in Menton was absolutely fabulous and we can't imagine there would be a better place to stay than this apartment. We hope to stay here again!
I cannot think of enough superlatives to describe our week in this beautiful apartment. We felt like we were living in 4 rooms of a castle. The view is spectacular and the town of Menton, with it's sea and mountains, flowers and palm trees, is beyond imagination. The location of the apartment could not be better for exploring the historic part of the city. The Basilique St-Michel is just a block (and a lot of stairs) away. It is fascinating and so is the adjoining cemetery. There are many shops and places to eat in the nearby pedestrian square. We had a wonderful time and hope to return someday soon.
