We had a lovely week in Broglie. The house is magnificent, the grounds extensive - the children loved to cycle around them. The pool is ample big enough, and the pool house makes for a convenient place to dry off and change (and has a fridge to chill your post-dip drinks!)
Mme Paysant, the housekeeper, was a delight, charming and welcoming, and lovely with the children. Nothing we asked her seemed too much trouble.
The house itself is large and very much feels like a 15th Century Manor House, as billed. Big rooms, open fire places, the four-poster was magnificent. It was a little quirky at times; it felt like the owners had left on their own holidays that morning, with pictures and things around the place, even a few ties and spectacles in one of the wardrobes, but that just added to the homely charm! Some of the electric circuits took some getting used to; you have to switch on a wall switch to activate the sockets so you can switch on the standard lamps, for example. These are the only reasons it gets 4 stars, not 5 - amongst the possessions left behind were some tablets, so we had to block off a couple of drawers to keep the children away from them.
The surrounding woods are also extensive (you could quite easily get lost in them!) and contain deer, owl, rabbits and mice. And probably more, but our 5 & 6 year olds were quite noisy!
We went to celebrate mum 70th and my parents golden wedding. The house is amazing and is decorated so beautifully. The gardens are beautiful are so well maintained. The house met all of our needs for 3 families without us all being on top of each other. Sandrine the housekeeper was v helpful, she cooked for us one evening and attended everyday to clean the pool and empty bins. Really good communication with the owners. We have had such fun, thank you for allowing us in your gorgeous home. We will b back
Very helpful housekeeper and owner. I would happily recommend the house. It is secluded and quiet. Easy to get to from Cherbourg.
The property was as described. I felt I was sharing a piece of French history. We went as a family of 8 and had more than enough room in the house and the grounds were superb for games. Cycling/walking from here was an ideal way to see the local countryside. The weather was cool in the evening but with the big open fireplace was a delight to sit and be together.
The only negative was that the pool not being heated was too cold for the softer ones in the family to swim.
I will go again.
